I still stand by QM > autogames for improving.

You have to win something like 7 games to unlock strat 1v1, and then can veto everything else.

I win ~70% playing QM, I would win 90%+ on autogames.

The point is wally, nobody cares about their opponents playing slowly only you. (Stalling yes, playing slowly no) However because you made a huge deal about your opponents playing slowly, you just end up looking an absolute hypocrite doing the exact same thing and that's what people are calling you out for, not your actions of playing slowly.

(and no, that's not what fireice is doing. he's playing 5 at a time and has completed like 20 games since ours began)

I'm glad he did. I've been waiting to take a vacation but didn't want to give 1st to a staller.

I'm sure you're right and I'm making a tradeoff. I huge part of the reason I play them is just leisure and I wouldn't get the same enjoyment if I wasn't able to select my opponents.

actually experimenting would be one way auto games are likely superior. when you come up with some new idea or want to try something you saw someone else do, you're not going to be great at it and it might not work against good players. you can mess around and refine it vs bad players until it's ready for prime time.

like i never used to go into heavy expansion mode late in games that were close or i was losing. but i kept seeing good players doing this. but i knew it depended on the situation, you can't always do it. so i practiced it a bunch vs bad players and started to get a handle on when and why and how to do it. now i'm able to do it vs better players.

I disagree autogames are better for that. Something working vs. bad players isn't evidence it works vs. good opponents. Experimenting might make you lose games vs. skilled opponents, but it's still more useful IMO. I do however agree that there are things I'll experiment with in an autogame, or on QM that I wouldn't on an important ladder game.

I agree. You gotta try it on good players too. But if you start trying it vs them when you’re not good at it yourself, you may think it’s a bad tactic when in fact you just need practice. Vs bad players you’ll see the positive impacts much faster and clearer.

Incorrect. Only player that knows everything is motd.

Yay, the almighty tricky, who... might have stalled his two losses. They're the only games in the last 10 (I didn't check more) with 2+ day turns. Some of the games he averaged barely over an hour or two a turn.
