^ Or maybe just a number of games as an alternative to time periods.

If i would get booted in more then 10% of my games, i would start thinking twice before joining games. Which i actually did and soon my boot rate lowered. Most boots i experienced so far were well-deserved. I experienced people with a boot rate of 40-50% (and some even more) and unsurprisingly, they were a pain to play with. They are usually in more then 50 games the same time, are online multiple times per day, yet they lengthened the games as much as possible. 3 day boot time - of course they never took their turn before the day 2 mark (Well, i started to love the "most x % boot rate" prerequisite).
Their shitty boot rate is the only punishment they get, and i really don't see why boots should expire. No offense.

I agree that very old boots should expire, but IMO only after at least 2 years or more

Maybe I should put in my bio when I am active, like DanWL. I would have thought that some other people did this. I only do it to let people know that I am / aren't active. Beware: it uses many characters, unless you summarize it!

Or two separate boot %'s. 1 for real-time and 1 for multi-day.
My real time boots are fairly high because I'm easily distracted by the other shiny things on the internet, but that's completely different from my reliability in multi-days

Yes, profiles should show both the all-time boot rate and the boot rate from the last 60 days. I only think boots should expire completely after at least a year.

I'm with hedja, too.
That's the whole point of the boot rating.
If you really feel you've "changed" in some significant way, start a new profile. But even if you don't, your percentage should go down fairly quickly.
Total boot percentage over your time at Warlight seems like a fair representation to me.

Another suggestion for a simple implementation:
"[Player] has been booted [X] times (XX.X%). Most recent boot was on [date]."

We need MD and RT boots separated for sure, I think I agree with this, usually getting booted from real time games and multi day games are results of very different kinds of situations and should be listed separately as well as combined.

logically, if boots expired from your rates. then so would games..
If your boots from 3 months + expired, then that would mean your boot rate would = your boots in last 3 / your games in last three. and I feel that most people that had boots recently would see an avid increase in their boot rates.
However, I feel if this were implemented, it would need to be implemented *alongside* the current boot rates. low duration boot rates *3-6-12 months* could show people that tend to go inactive mid game and cause disturbances in RT games, while long duration boot rates *lifetime* could show people that have done bad in the past, or who will regularly leave WL due to IRL obligations *or just boredom* and would be less reliable in MD games.
and Benjamin, you've had 241 boots in 266 days... there is no reason why you shouldn't have a black mark on your record... logically speaking, if I played a MD game with you, I would *expect* you to get booted within the first 40 days, presuming it lasts longer than that, as you have 40 games, and you average little under a boot a day. If you don't want a bad boot record, don't play more games than you can handle.

Either way Benjamin, sounds like your regularly biting off more than you can chew. I make it a point to make sure I do not join a game that I don't feel I can make sure I take my turn within the allotted time, and also don't have more games going than what I think I can manage and keep up with, hence I have only been booted from 2 games, EVER.

Boot rate is well deserved. No offense. I dont care if I play with a person with a high % because I know I can win easily. Also in my opinion, boot rate doesnt show us the level or strenght of a player. Also, it doesnt mean he/she is lazy. Many factors can affect the boot rate. My only proposal is to eliminate that restriction about % boot rate while creating new games.
