We will be hosting a brief launch tonight shortly after Titled Tuesday finishes. I will post a link in due course and post it to Global Chat.

To Sign up, you must have a Team of 5 Players from your Clan and provide details in a comment below.

I require your Team Name (which should be your Clan and then another name connected with any other teams in your Clan) and the player names and links to their profile.

Sign Up Deadline

Teams must be signed up by noon (UK time) on 29 August 2025.






The format of Clan Cup is akin to a Single Elimination Tournament except that Teams play against each other in a best of 5 - the first Team to 3 wins progresses and the losers are eliminated.

Anyone in your Clan who wants to play should be able to find a team since Clans can submit an unlimited number of Teams. Where Clans have a ‘sister Clan’ for the purpose of playing Clan Wars, this counts as one Clan.

Rather than having an A Team and B Team for your Clan, try to get creative. In the example I use below, The Harmony Teams are cutlery and the TLA Teams are crockery.

TLA Plates (JK_3, Ares, Naviiso, Seraph & Grimer) Vs Harmony Forks (Texx, Kcenbroh, dd, SilentWarrior & Bodski).

The match ups will be random with the template also randomly selected from the list of MTL templates (with a small number of exceptions where it may be difficult to make matches).

Example:

JK_3 Vs SilentWarrior on Biomes - JK wins
Ares Vs dd on Fast Earth - dd wins
Naviiso Vs Texx on Fast Earth - Naviiso wins
Seraph Vs Kcebnroh on Great Lakes - Seraph wins
Grimer Vs Bodski on Timid Lands - Bodski wins

TLA Plates win so their whole team progresses and the whole Harmony Forks team is eliminated.





Unlike Clan League, this should not be a massive effort. Even if 64 teams enter, it would only mean 6 games for those who make it to the final and one or two games for 75% of those who enter.

Round 4 13 October 2025

Round 5 20 October 2025

That should be enough rounds unless we have a lot of interest in which case we may enter November.




FAQs

1. What boot times will apply ?

Games will have a 3d boot with 2 days banked.


2. Are vacations honoured ?

No.



3. Are substitutions allowed ?

Yes, an unlimited number of substitutions is allowed per team, although players can only play for one team during the competition (players cannot even change teams within a Clan during the event).



4. Can templates be vetoed like on the MTL ?

No.



5. What about MTL Templates which are Members only ?

Those have been excluded from the Cup along with templates which have Mods.



6. Will there be any seeding ?

No.



7. How do I get involved ?

Discuss within your Clan and register your teams. To register a team, 5 players are required for each. Any member of your Clan who is not included in a team is a substitute by default. Each Clan should provide a list of Team names and the 5 Players in each team. Clans can have an unlimited number of Teams so that everyone in a Clan can play.



8. Can I play if I am not in a Clan ?

No.



9. What if I leave my Clan during the competition ?

You will be expected to complete the game you are playing but will not be to able to play in future rounds so would need to be substituted out. Players must be in the Clan they represent when each game is made and cannot switch team during the season.



10. When will this take place ?

Sign-ups are from now with the draw for Round 1 happening w/c 1 September 2025.


11. How will matches be made ?

I will make a live draw on twitch or similar and then manually make the games. Hopefully the randomness will makes these draws interesting for those involved.



12. What if a game finishes as a draw ?

Some templates can end in a draw, in which case the game must be replayed.


13. Can I help at all ?

I would like some help hosting the Cup Draw each round and making the games, but at this stage starting to get organised in your Clans would be the best way to help.

What will happen if not all matchups are decided yet by the time next round's draw is scheduled to happen? With 3 days boot + 2 banked, the probability that all matchups are decided (either team winning at least three games) after 14 days is negligiable. If you provide 3 extra days to join the game in the first place, as MTL does, you'll have a bunch of games at turn 3 after those 14 days. Bear in mind that some games will likely last over 20 turns, and we are bound to have participants that take 3 days turns. Even if those are a small minority, this problem will occur. Am I missing something?

Alex, your understanding is correct.

In all likelihood, the draw for each Round will be made before all games are finished. So we could end up with the draw producing games like:

R2 Alexclusive V Bodski or Seraph on Fast Earth

Although there will be a lot of games lasting more than 2 weeks, they will all be part of a best of five, so it may mean that they do not need to finish.

This is deliberate for two reasons:

1. To keep momentum in the competition - I doubt that many people will want to deliberately hold up the competition so it should encourage faster play by suggesting an artificial deadline or showing slow players as being behind (this may not be possible in competitive games on slow templates, but so be it).
2. To build anticipation - in the above example, I imagine that you could look forward to playing Seraph or myself or that we could work hard to win for the right to play you.

Also, I am doing everything manually, so this seems like an easier way to do things.

I based the idea (very loosely) on the FA Cup in England. In that competition, the date of the draw is fixed even though some matches are not complete yet.
