Just out of curiosity, what is the benefit of going from a .net domain name to a .com one?

Search engines are putting more emphasis on a COM domain when it comes to general TLDs (extensions).

WarZone... this name sucks so badly... could we just vote on a new name? Or even whethr to change the name or not?

@Fizzer - WarLight, being such an unusual name, is more memorable than something as generic as WarZone.
Surely this is a good thing. WarLight is unique and interesting. Why settle for something ordinary when an outstanding option is already here?

That said, the name won't be an issue, for most people, soon enough. I will still call it WarLight, but the name isn't the reason I've played for so long...

you are right, i never realized the captcha was in another page even though it is written in small letters in there.
i guess what threw me off was the reloading button where a normal captcha image should be placed.

.com was originally considered for companies. but with new top level domains being allowed nowdays it's even more useless which actual domain you get, it's only a matter of making it more searchable. and internet people still somewhat go for .com on first try, even though now every browser forwards you to a search engine when you ignore the .domain part and that's how most people search for sites, using keywords not guessing the domain.

search engines search the entire internet domains, and they crawl it deeper the more links you find on other sites.
in reality only registrars and internet hipsters care about the TLD of a site. and the domain sitters who exploit them (hint, it's usually the registrars themselves).

tl;dr: changing a sites name because .com is better then .net in 2015 is stupid. you're alienating your users and losing the entire SEO history which is what gives the site it's current popularity. even more stupid when you're changing to a name which already has other people using it, will be harder to show up on top search hits and more confusing for the users. sorry Fizzer, i like you and all, but this was rash dumb move imho.

Make it a Poll Fizzer.... Give the community the choice to change or not! Who's more important those that have been around for 3-6 years or the ones you might not get for a year and they will only stay a month? Let the semi old timers have a say in the matter!

I'm still going to call it warlight.... I mean WM and WG just won't sound the same and there are other clans that need to be changed.... WGL won't sound as great or Warlight Weekly....

Warlight is a better name than Warzone,but no one who does not know Warlight will Google it. I first found out about Warlight from another gaming site where they let us play only single player games. Warzone is very commonly used conjunction and will get many responses from those who don't know the game yet.

I don't care about the name, the name is not what makes the game good. The game is fizzer's and he's already done so much for us and created a completely unique game and community. If you cannot stand a name change at all, are throwing hate and negativity at fizzer, and are threatening to leave, go ahead, I'd rather not have you here anyway. Take your childish hate to the rest of the internet.

Although, ps and gor have a point. The name itself it not important and people could get over it but a change could hurt the site's branding. Warzone is definitely more generic then Warlight and since it is more common, it could be harder to find and attract attention in a list of other games and sites on a search. Then again, I feel like not many people find Warlight on search engines because of the name's uniqueness.

It really doesn't matter if he changes the name. What does that do to any of your who are bitching. Maybe you explained in the first four pages, but I really didn't care to read any of those comments. This new name will make it so random people can stumble across the game so it's a good move for Fizzer. Who randomly searches Warlight?

At least warzones exist. I dont look them up but some people might. Even if they do I doubt theyre looking for an online game but still. Im just trying to say that this doesnt matter as much as everyone thinks.

Sure, if they want a name change, that seems fair.

I hope you will agree to change Warlight Master name as well :P
