We really screwed up by voting the map into the QM rotation. :( Lesson learned: if you want good things to last, hide them from Fizzer.

I'm still a little unclear on the exact rules this map is breaking, but I suggest the image below as possible map compromise (pardon the subpar designer skills). By each of the 3 castles would show corresponding bonus structure with live coloring (light fog style, no army numbers shown just colors of whether territory is owned by someone specific or neutral). This way the bonuses would still be functionally visible with 3D turned on and no clicks would be needed to toggle through bonuses. Each set of bonuses would always be visible besides their respective castles. Please, I need Trippel-Tafl back.

... but the beauty of the map is, if you switch castles (or have multiple in late game) your bonuses *are* different!
with multiple castles your bonuses even add up! it's such a deep game play if you get to know it. gives a 4th dimension to it... don't retire the map!!!

I agree with those rule Dan but the overlapping territories that I created were made for another purpose, just to show the limits of the bonuses. Anyway, I'm working on an improved map very similar to the TR-8R proposal.

Anyway, in the case of the Trippel-Tafl map, Fizzer could give poetic license to it, because at that moment the map configuration was the best way I had found to keep a dynamic visualization of the bonuses.

many of us genuinely love this map and its unique gameplay. Unless you mean that Fizzer is trolling us with the retiring of it with these limiting map rules. But Lionheart is working on new submission which hopefully gets approved

Opponent seems to have just booted. IMO this again shows the issue with auto-enabling QM templates as soon as they get unlocked. Fizzer himself seems to have understood the template, glancing at his picks, so I don't think it's fair to pinpoint this on Fizzer's own confusion. Rather, Trippel-Tafl is inaccessible for a lot of players.

From the experience I've had so far playing on this map with other players and getting feedback from them I think the INSS system was much more difficult to understand than Trippel-Tafl, so I don't believe that his retirement was due to the gameplay, but because of the overlapping layers.

In a common map any overlapping of territories can indeed interfere with the gameplay but not in the case of Trippel-Tafl where the layers are only activated for a dynamics of bonuses visualization making the game more intuitive

Yeah, the rationale for the restriction does not apply to Trippel-Tafl, except for the 3D map issue.

Talking a little about it, the design and concept of this map started in 2018, it was a group work with great players, including Deadman, Master of Desaster and Rufus, with my help.

The work was stopped for three years and resumed at the end of 2021 from the moment we had found a solution to the gameplay problem.

I understand that there are these imposed rules and limitations and that they are important to maintain a standard order of maps, but my intention was not to circumvent any of them.

In my mind rules exist to be broken mainly in the field of arts and creations that involve inventive step.

Most of the discoveries and pleasures of our life are the result of extrapolation and breaking of barriers and paradigms. :)

Just to comment on the gameplay versus INSS. I think in the current state, INSS is more intuitive. My first INSS game was on EA where the bonus system was clearly explained in text, and in the end apart from the negative income its quite intuitive system.

That being said, I think TT can be made equally intuitive with some visual changes Lionheart mentioned, looking forward to it!

I've never played it, but taking a 3 second glance at the map yields confusion. This map is not intuitive at all.

I had to load the map preview and poke around highlighting bonuses to figure out how the mechanics work.

Minimally, the map needs a guide like Landria or INSS maps have indicating WTH is going on. The "CLICK TO HERE TO SEE ALL xxxx CASTLE BONUSES" is not enough of a guide.

I completely agree with Krinid. When I played this map, I had to constantly click over to the castle I owned in order to see the bonuses. I undrstand that this is a good map for those who can handle this, but a guide is highly recommended. So are bonus links for the different castles.
Table for bonuses maybe. Or just simply placing them where they'd normally be.

This is the link from the new updated version of the map Trippel-Tafl Im working and want to share here for comments.

IMHO, when viwing from PC without much zoom, I see an issue that the 3 castles in each of the legends are colored equally "strong", and the bonuses colors are not strong enough to emphasize, that the exact legend is for the single castle out of 3. That makes the each if legends a little bit more confusing.

I would suggest:
- changing colors to the non-main castles in the legends to make them less "active" (one option may be to leave just the outlines)
or
- empasizing more the main color on the bonuses
