I agree. CWs definitely needs revamping. And I say that as someone who actually enjoys the competition. A semi-casual, RT competition that is fun and worthwhile should be possible.

My suggestions:

(1) The templates need to be more varied. Add the top ~20-30 templates from the QM rankings. Each slot can still include a basic template (like small earth or the 1v1 auto game to encourage noobie participation).

(2) Each timeslot needs variety within it. There should always be at least 3 options per slot. And they should be varied: no more than 1 small earth option, no more than 1 LD/MA/commander option, always at least one strat option, etc. It really is no fun to take care to log in at the right time, only to find one template available, which you don't enjoy.

(3) The max roster size needs to be smaller. Literally every clan struggles to field 40 everyday players. MH and Masters ballooned and still can't field 40 reliably. TSFH was I-don't-know-how-big and never came close to 40. Making it 10-20-player roster would enable more clans to field competitive teams. And if there is concern that some people will be excluded by smaller rosters, the seasons can be shortened so clan-members can rotate in and out of the roster.

10 is too small. 20-25 seems better, it still gives room ​for clans to not have to recruit so hard, but still big enough that most probably don't have to restructure just to keep on playing.

1 week is too short - it's over before you know it, and winning a "season" pretty much means nothing.

And instead of making them super short, I think they just need more flexibility. Instead of making it flat out 1 game/day, make it 4 games/week. Still limit it to 1 game/day to avoid players feeling forced to hit 4 windows in a row for some deadline. This means players can better choose when to play and missing a day isn't a missed opportunity to contribute.

Or instead of a hard weekly allocation, make it a sliding 7 days, where 7 days after a game is played, it frees up 1 CW game play slot to a max of 4.

It doesn't need to necessarily be smaller/faster, just more flexible so you can stop, breathe & actually enjoy the game.

I would suggest:

20-member rosters, ~2-week seasons, high template variety with a guaranteed 1 of the 3 SE templates, and a guaranteed strategic template (anything on MTL counts).

Why 2 week seasons? There would be 24 seasons in a year - isn't that excessive?

1 month would work better imho. S6 last just over 2 months, and I think we all unanimously agree that it was far too long.

1 month seems substantial enough that it's not just a short spurt effort, but not a long haul drain either.

the problem in my eyes is that after a certain while it becomes clear who is going to win.

so, if it's one month, but it becomes clear after 2 weeks who is going to win, then that's 2 weeks of dead-time

if it turns out 3 weeks still works out well competitively, I would be down for that too - but would lean with shorter periods to start with

also, shorter periods make it more realistic for a clan to do a spurt one CW and win it - which is a good thing imo, as it encourages activity

I believe all CW season are supposed to last ~3 weeks, but that design didnt translate well into the real world.

3-4 weeks sounds about right. That's just enough time for the top clans to get their 25 territory reward.

But the question is, will Fizzer listen? It seems the community is in agreement now, even those who have traditionally dominated Clan Wars (Masters, and M'Hunters) acknowledge it should be changed.

Participation have been dying, that is a fact, but when I talk about actual legends in Warzone nearly none goes on the Clan Wars. The legends in Clan League rarely goes on Clan Wars, and maybe this is because they want actual glory, to which CW has lost this meaning, and the ones that go one clan wars, masters and MH, perform not as good as the CL tryhards.
Several times I talked about clan wars in the public chat and basically everyone is looking at me like I am a cave-dweller or something.
Now CW's only meaning is materialistic rewards and virtually nothing else.

I see your points but it was never even meant to be seen as competitive as Clan League so its understandable that many from that wont play.

Been in both TSFH and TLA now and by mid-season both had hit 40 seats taken - just not always active players joining. So I do see reducing that just making it harder for players to join later and help fill the lesser active players spots. I likely wouldn't play due to while Im active Im hardly very good - so it would become more of an elitist game is all reducing that # would really do.

I say if you can't fill the 40 seats, perhaps your clan isn't attracting and retaining active members? I was in both TSFH and TLA for the comradery most of all. They both provided challenges, help in growth and other entertaining things to do besides just the grind of normal games.

Truly if your wish is to see more actively playing CW, i'd eliminate the 40 seat limit all together. Then anyone and everyone would be able to play and not be concerned if they were the best their clan had to offer or not.

We hope but we don't expect anything, and then we are still disappointed....

The problem is that as long as new clans have that annoying 40 member cap, its simply impossible to get a full CW. It took TLA a week to get 2/5th of the clan to play. Mostly because people just kept missing the timeslots....

Lowering the CW cap from 40 down to 20-30, will half the activity in CW, since 90%+ of CW games are played by the top 5 clans.
Lowering the cap will also make CW a more elite thing: big clans either have to riks giving a slot to a bad player that rarely plays and only loses, or make some sort of roster for CW.

So before the thread gets overrun by trolls:

We concluded CW is sub-optimal, gave a bunch of suggestions to improve it, and now nothing is going to change? (Just like with all the other forums about CW)
