Don't know if you will see this but anyway, FIZZER, Love WZ, Play for fun , there are lots of choices for a duffer like me who just plays for fun. I don't usually read the threads, they are long and boring, not why I come to this site. I joined a clan to get more choices in games, and have reliable players to play with. If I want to improve,( and get my ass kicked) I play AWP world tour. same with CW, just another game to me. I am thankful for all choices. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK

Is it? Let's analyze . . .

Season 8
- Map 'Greater Middle East' has 224 territories
- Season started 2022/01/01 7am EST
- Season ended 2022/01/19 11pm EST
- Duration: approx 19 days

Season 9
- S9 California 2.5 has 242 territories. However,
- Season started 2022/01/20 3am EST
- Season hasn't ended yet, 18 territories are remaining
- Duration so far is 17 days
- So maybe will take another week or so ... estimate total duration 24 days

So yep, it's tracking to be longer than S8. And you've likely already flagged the reason why. Masters isn't playing. Let's assume Masters was in it, and they were in their usual position of "a handful above MH". MH at this point has 22 territories, Masters has 8, so with previous glory of Masters play, Masters would have ~26+, which the difference of is >=18, which means the season likely would have ended a few days ago.

Does this mean we're lobbying to reinvigorate Masters to start playing CW more actively again so the seasons will be shorter? lmao

Yep, you're probably right. I haven't measured but I guess the # of wins required to get a territory, but suspect that it's less than previous seasons. Supported by fact that even without Masters' high volume of play, we're in the ballpark for season duration.

More mileage out of getting casuals to participate more since low-participation clans are more efficient in wins-per-territory terms.

Yes but that's not likely going to happen. That's been the whole point of 40-cap on clans & CW itself, but instead of just made the top clans recruit all the good players and demotivate the weaker clans from playing much at all.

Yeah it's almost like Clan Wars was designed by someone who's never actually participated in Warzone clans or understood their appeal.

The point of CW being capped at 40 people per clan is completely okay to the player base, but capping the CLAN MEMBER CAP is the worst thing the designer can do. Sacrificing the chance of people entering new clans? What kind of sf-ery is this?!
But when Masters isn't playing, MH will win every CW. But when MH isn't playing, it is up to TLA and Excel.
(also clan wars can change to one win one territory so that massive maps like EU4 can be played while not getting much fuss)

Even if you take for granted there was a valid reason for a clan members cap, this cap being = highest number of CW participants allowable sounds like a bad joke

CW9 ended 2022/02/07 3am EST, lasting 19 days (109 slots). So lasted about as long as CW8.

Now we will see if Masters has truly given up CW or not. If they continue to have only low participation and MH wins again, Masters will lose their all-time CW win lead, and be tied with MH. CW11 would be the chance for MH to take the lead.

These short seasons are gonna be the death of CW. The shorter the season, the less reason small clans have to play.

From the small clans most players were only able to get a few games in, and their clans only got a few terr as a result of that. Players from small clans pretty much play just for the territory rewards, so if they cant even get those anymore, I'm afraid they will quickly give up.

(And yes, I'm also disappointed that I was unable to get my extra AP multiplier for the 20th terr...)

Can i just add that the skill rating needs to be improved. I took a CW match in discovery and was paired up with a MH. u can gues who won that. the problem is that small clans are being paired up against the sweaty clans leading to burnout

Skill rating is fine @UFO. Its logical. The only thing that isnt logical is the 40 member cap on clans. 40 participants cap on clan wars is reasonable but new clan cap isnt.

discovery isn't a small clan. we have higher skill than mh
