The vast majority of you will get mail saying:

You are a VILLAGER

Amongst your fellow VILLAGERS are an indeterminate, minority number of werewolves.

You are at risk of being eaten each night. Each time night occurs, a VILLAGER will be eaten by a WOLF. When that happens, they are out of the game.

It is up to the VILLAGERS to vote en-masse the next day for who they think was responsible for the killing, and who is to be lynched (also out of the game).

The WOLVES will of course masquerade as VILLAGERS and try to swing the vote to protect themselves.

An unknown number of you will get this instead:

You are a WOLF

Your fellow wolves are:
*snip*

As a WOLF in the game it is your role to plot in secret with your fellow wolves about how to slowly pick off the VILLAGERS.

Each game-night the WOLVES will contact me by mail with the decision of who to kill. The WOLVES will then hide in plain sight, pretending to be VILLAGERS, and voting as normal.

The WOLVES win if they manage to kill every VILLAGER with at least 1 WOLF left alive.

One or more person(s) will get this:

You are a SEER

Unlike an ordinary VILLAGER, each night you can ask me to reveal to you in secret what one person's true role is.

You will start masquerading as an ordinary VILLAGER, but it will be up to you if you reveal your powers.

It becomes complicated 'going public' because, for instance, a WOLF may well claim that they are a SEER and you in turn may raise suspicion amongst your fellow players. In any case, you will be picked off quite quickly if you tell people what you are.

One or more person(s) will get this:

You are an ANGEL

Unlike an ordinary VILLAGER, each night you ask me to in secret to protect a fellow player.

You will start masquerading as an ordinary VILLAGER, but it will be up to you if you reveal your powers.

It becomes complicated 'going public' because, for instance, a WOLF may well claim that they are an ANGEL and you in turn may raise suspicion amongst your fellow players. In any case, you will be picked off quite quickly if you tell people what you are.

Be careful - there may be a situation where you accidentally protect a WOLF.

One or more person(s) will get this:

You are a VIGILANTE

Unlike an ordinary VILLAGER, you have two bullets, and can shoot any player of your choosing at night.

You have two bullets for the whole game, so you can either use them immediately, to make the most of them, or save them, but risk dying before they are used - it's your choice!

Be careful - there may be a situation where you accidentally shoot a special villager!

One or more person(s) will get this:

You are a MUSE

Unlike an ordinary VILLAGER, you have a one-time ability - to copy another player.

If that player has a special role then, if you out-last them, then at their point of death, then you will take over their role. You can fire straight away, as a blind guess, or wait until you have a bit more information and make an educated guess - it is up to you. If you copy a VILLAGER, then you immediately take their role too.

Be careful - there may be a situation where you accidentally copy a WOLF.

PLEASE make sure you read the rules!

The villagers convened a meeting. Over in a neighbouring village, they had seen their comrades knocked down, one-by-one. The wolves there has taken over, and they were worried the same would happen here. No-one had died here, yet. But they worried that the wolves may spread, and sought to prevent it from happening. "We must take preventative measures" they cried, "and lynch somebody in 48 hours time, to see if this stressful situation will repeat itself here"

Voting now open - 1 vote each, 1 person to die! List of players is in the second post of this topic

PS - the roles were, as always, 100% random. This is very important to remember!

Hello, I am fellow villager. First of all I want to know how many people we are. How many of the total number of people are wolves and how many special roles are assigned.

Pls Mr Dom, give us that information.

While wait on Dom to give us that information, I want the villagers to stay calm and lynch nobody, lynching in the dark only helps the wolves.

So we need the seer to look into 2 people in the next two days and then out himself and present the result. It would be best not to look into me, because with that announcement here i am most likely making me a target of the wolves, since i am bringing some strategy into the village.

So, lets not kill anyone yet. Once the seer has gathered some information, he can out himself and will get killed next, but he will have given something for the village to work on.

So please no mindless killing.

Every villager has to abstain or make sure that nobody gets lynched.

I am not voting yet.

Interestingly there is nothing about that in the rules.
Would be good if dom could also explain how the voting works.

Does it need a majority? What kind of majority? etc.

So I will be waiting until dom can clarify the rules.

The person with the most votes by the deadline (about 48hours time) will be lynched, regardless of a majority. Multiple people level will result in multiple lynch deaths. In theory you can all abstain by not voting, but no day kills will give the wolves free night kills, and no chance to gather intel - the villagers last time worked out, belatedly, who the wolves were by looking at voting trends. And it certainly won't work here as a couple of votes have already been cast.

As for players + roles: the second post contains a full list of players, so you can find all alive participants there and calculate numbers - that will be kept updated throughout! As for numbers of each role - I'm being deliberately coy! However, when all of one role has died, I will give that info!

I'm not playing, but do have a little experience and think it's important to get a few details cleared up, before they might become an issue:

You are an ANGEL

Unlike an ordinary VILLAGER, each night you ask me to in secret to protect a fellow player.

(..)

Be careful - there may be a situation where you accidentally protect a WOLF.

Question: how long does the protection last; only during the night, or also the following day? While it is possible for a Wolf to die at night (courtesy of the Vigilante), this is not a very big chance, meaning the Angel(s) need not worry too much about this possibility. If the protection extents onto the next day's lynching, an Angel's choice becomes much more difficult...

Just for the record: is it allowed to use both bullets in one night? Depending on how the game turns out, this can be a very crucial matter!

(Also, I think it's very telling of this game that you didn't even warn "you might shoot a regular villager", because seriously, who cares about them? :p )

Will the players know how somebody died? For instance, the Wolves attack somebody, but that person is saved by the Angel, while in the same night the Vigilante shoots somebody. One person dies; the usual result of a night, but it makes a huge difference whether only the Wolves and the Vigilante know this, or the other players as well. For instance: the Angel will probably want to know they protected a non-Wolf, but also the other villagers can glean a ton of knowledge from this extra information.

Personally I always play with this information (it seems odd you wouldn't be able to tell whether somebody got shot or eaten), but the most important thing is to decide ahead of time how to deal with the situation if and when it occurs.
