Hey everybody,

Its getting close to the new year and what better way to celebrate than to look back at the past year?

Bane and I are happy to announce that we will be hosting the 1st annual WarZone Awards LIVE at Twitch.tv/CursonaFun sometime in January (Most likely the 19th) to give some honors to the people, the maps, and other aspects of Warlight/WarZone from the past year. We are looking for this award ceremony to be very casual, light hearted, discussion filled, and of course comedic, but its also to give love to the award nominees and winners.

So with that... We're asking for nominations for each award. We have narrowed down the many ideas for awards to this list:

Best Map *
Worst Map (So bad its good) *
Best mapmaker
Best Fizzer Moment (Either through Twitch clips, Forum posts, Chat from a game, etc) *
Best WarZoner (Actual Gameplay, skill based)
WarZone Community Member of the Year (Someone who brought an impact to the WL/WZ community, not necessarily a person who is good at the game, but very well could be.)
Best Clan
Best New Clan *
Best match of the year *

Rules for nominations:
Most of the awards will have up to 5 nominees.
All award nominations marked with * must have been from January 1st to December 29th, 2017. Any nomination suggestions not within those dates won't be considered. All other awards not with a * can be from any year.
ALSO, just because you put in a nomination doesn't mean it will make the nomination list. Bane and I will be going through and deciding who ultimately makes the final cut. However, if we see lots of similar nominations we will probably put them in the final list.
We will no longer be looking for nominations after January 7th at 9:30PM EST. Afterward there should be a new thread that will include a link to a Surveymonkey where you will vote on the FINAL cast of nominees.

So yeah, reply to this thread with nominees to any or all of the awards. Just be clear what nominee is for what award. :)

Best Map: Biomes (QaB)
Worst Map (So bad its good): Zodiac (Lionheart)
Best mapmaker: Lionheart
Best Fizzer Moment: Trolling the forums against whiners in the release of WZ
Best WarZoner: mod for winning a hell lot of things over the year, but that was close
WarZone Community Member of the Year: Me of course. You're welcome clan/manager league
Best Clan: This year i really think ONE! did great but master won the clan league in overwhelming fashion so that's a tie to me
Best New Clan: don't know which ones were created this year but if Wizards were i'll put my money on them
Best match of the year: Too many games are pleasant to watch but I think the tiebreaker of the P/R season is the best one for what it represents.

Nominating dabo1 for Community Member of the Year. He's created a large chunk of the mod ecosystem.

MotD is the LeBron of this award; it would get boring if we gave LeBron MVP every year.

My opinions are unique at best, and controversial at worst, but here they are:

Best map: Arctic Ocean by Toluene. https://www.warzone.com/Map/28105-Arctic-Ocean

Worst map (so bad it's good): Discount USA. I know it's frowned upon (and maybe even against the rules) to vote for yourself, but seriously, this map is so enormously shitty, but still fun to play and hilarious (albeit torturous) to look at, there's no way it can't be considered. https://www.warzone.com/Map/30859-Discount-United-States-America

Best mapmaker: there are a dozen names going through my head right now, but without a doubt, the best one by a mile is Lionheart. He consistently releases maps of such amazing quality, it almost seems like it would be a challenge for him to make a bad map. His worst is better than my best.

Best Fizzer Moment: Fizzer vs. Squiggles, or when he gave away all those coins and memberships a couple days ago. I honestly can't decide which one is better.

WarZone Community Member of the Year: NinjaNic. Take a look at his most recent maps and you'll see why. Hell, take a look at all his maps and you'll see why. His mapmaking skills are amazing, second only to Lionheart. But with him, we don't have to choose quality over quantity, or vice versa. We get both. With 75 maps to date, I believe he has contributed the most to the community.

Dabo1 is an honorable mention, though.

If that one doesn't go to motd something clearly went wrong. He organizes time costly events like clan league or manager league, puts up the mdl which costs him server costs as well, i'm pretty sure he also did mods. There are many other valuable community members but motd is just over the top
