1. Forum voting system.

2. Community events on dashboard.

Definetely the dashboard thing, then the youtube integration. Youtube integration is very helpful to avoid having laggy/bad recording software. But I still think community events are 99% of the fun I have with strat warlight nowadays. I'm pretty sure this would be good to fill in leagues and streams and such.

The forum blacklist thing, eh, there's a userscript for that, so it's pointless. Specially because it's very easy to use.

And the forum voting system, that's just terrible and easy to abuse. That feature is a backfire more than anything else.

Rainbowbrite has a point, though. If only the feature was from uservoice, and not random stuff fizzer thought of ._.

If I win I'd probably pick this option:
"- Forum voting system, to help promote good threads and hide bad threads."

You guys don't seems to the the "A" in a member only forum.
I guess they'll make a new forum and keep the old ones.
It'll be like Elysium.

To the players and people of Warlight its a pondering thought bubble but what if once a year you had a Warlight world cup looking similar to the settings of Myth Soublighter 2 which you can see on youtube.com to get a general idea so post ideas and what you think

fancy but I still see placeholders of their messages and it blocks the messages and threads of some people I haven't blacklisted for unclear reasons (Dan, MotD and ps for example), so it doesn't really work for me :/

Member only is a good solution to the forum issue, though politics could still make it difficult. Player level really isn't effective, just too easy to get a high level. If anything, age of account would be more effective than level.

Hopefully someone picks 2,3,4, or 5. Though I would be okay with 1.

The others, just no..

Sorry PS, but you basically blacklist everyone who disagrees with you and there are occasionally posts that you need to see because they challenged your prejudices and it's fun seeing you get uncomfortable.

Forum voting is a bad idea because we've seen how posts that speak the truth can get downvoted to oblivion (see: reddit) because people weight feelings over facts. I.e. spreading ideas and information isn't a popularity contest.

BL is for players, in game, originally. For bad behaviour or noob'ness and so on. It doesnt mean we want messages from those players hidden. In the other hand, I dont want to read 1416, but i have nothing against playing him in a game, so im not going to BL him just to be sure I dont read him as that would prevent me from playing him (this is a bad example, I wouldnt mind not meeting him in a game, but there must be more relevant examples, and you get the idea). I think there should be a "ignore list" different from BL which is related to the forum only.

I really like this event idea! Thx Fizzer. At least you are trying ^^

my thoughts:

1- Add a member-only forum. --> and then? Will you read both, or will the normal forum be flooded with trolls only and noobs? I think this will not help new players to get in touch with the community.

2- Add "attack only" to 3v3 ladder. --> omg... this is just what kind of games a player prefers... but yeah... i like this option...

3- Add "allow attacks by percentage" to 3v3 ladder. --> see 2

4- Allow turning a finished game into a youtube video. --> nice option I think. Maybe add this feature to Members only to prevent to many pointless videos.

5- create link to community events on dashboard with someone curating it (clan league, WWCL, etc) --> don't really understand how this should look like, but I like the idea to make it easier to new and/or mainly single players to get in touch with the community.

6- Hide forum posts by players you've blacklisted. --> I would not use this feature. I also do not blacklist people.

7- Forum voting system, to help promote good threads and hide bad threads. --> Besides the possibilities to abuse the system: How should this work? So forum would not be sorted by date of latest post, but by rating? Don't like that at all. Why not do instead: create strict rules to non offtopic forums?

8- let the input of uservoice become important for decisionmaking oohhh I would really like that one! I think it is very likely that members of the community are trying to improve it. I think there are several nice ideas.

Finished game export as video would probably work better than export to youtube. Export to YT only would create loads of problems.

I'm also not a fan of a member-only forum or of hiding posts from blacklisted players (wouldn't use either).

On the subject of forum voting:

* So long as the output of the system is optional or easy to ignore, this would be a good thing.

For instance, if posts/topics got ratings just like maps, which were visible, but otherwise changed nothing, that would potentially be a good thing. You can see if people like something you posted, and which threads people liked reading the most.

I wouldn't want the system to sort the threads for me, however. At most, an optional button ("Sort By Ratings") which I could click could be a feature. Then you can decide whether to use it or not.

PanagiotisTheGreekFreak: 40 players, Poland Commanders Multi-Attack No-Split No-Fog

Did a few test games yesterday:
https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=11504112
https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=11504250
https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=11504513

Some protips for the noobs:
- multi-attack allows you to keep attacking with your stack on the same turn, you can take over half the map in 1 turn, but you also risk hitting a wall, use it wisely
- gift card is useful in multiattack to stop a stack of an obvious enemy trying to break you, use it strategically to protect your income
- commanders leave no armies behind, so the path you open becomes a highway leading others to where you are, you will waste armies against the neutral, but they will not waste armies attacking over your bare territories, make sure with your stack moves that you are getting the income to protect your commander properly
- no-split will not allow you to take most of the cities bonuses in poland in 1 turn, you'll need to position yourself well to be able to take it next turn, leaving you open for opponents to easily break your income
- no-fog reveals everything, expect others to try to break your income immediatly after you secure it
- your commander is always vulnerable without a large stack protecting it, if you lose your commander you're done, so don't run into walls with your commander and don't leave him exposed where a neighbour can easily snipe you out of the game

would be cool if killing off an enemy commander would give you income card pieces!

Oh, I didn't know crazy settings were being used. Those settings sound interesting, but maybe for this event we should make it a more "normal" game (i.e. turn off the multi attack and no-split).

My concern is that most players won't understand the strategy and will have no chance, since they've never played on those settings before.

Since this is a one-time special event, I'd hate to see most players feel like they had no chance, and see the game dominated by the people who have practiced it. The settings should be something that the average WarLight player is familiar with.

Either that or do a practice game first, but I'm afraid that would take too much time.

- Add a member-only forum: so that members can discuss about how wealthy they are.. I think it would be smarter by fizzer to give members some more perks in order to make people more willing to give him their money, like a member should always have colour priority over a non member, or being able to create a custom scenario of the distribution of a game easily and directly from that game

- Add "attack only" to 3v3 ladder: why isn't it there already?

- Add "allow attacks by percentage" to 3v3 ladder: why isn't it there already? and why is it on a separated feature than attack only?

- Allow turning a finished game into a youtube video: it would be a cool idea, but knowing Fizzer's taste for art and his programming skills, i fear this would just be ugly and bugged as shit

- create link to community events on dashboard with someone curating it (clan league, WWCL, etc): why isn't it there already? Community events like these are what keeps people interested in Warlight and attracts more people from the competitive scene, it should be on Fizzer's interest to promote them

- Hide forum posts by players you've blacklisted: there's already a userscript that does it

- Forum voting system, to help promote good threads and hide bad threads: this would be cool, it should have been implemented already

tl;dr: these options are silly, Fizzer is not smart

I'll try to contact ps about that. I'm certain the ffa will not be fun without multiattack.
With no split it is better but also playable without.
Nobody will ever get a bonus except the +3ones so the map has to be changed at least.
