I have get to the level "take the castle" of the new single player levels. Since I have only played 6/34 of the levels, I cannot give a thorough review of it. But the feeling I am getting is that they are very boring. I feel that the pace is way too slow.

In the old single player levels, by level 3 you already get to play an exciting FFA match with 3 AI to conquer the world (which most players has no problem at all beating it.) And in level 4 you face a boss enemy, which you need to use the right strategy to take down. They are not only fun, but also teach you much about strategy as well. In level 3, you learn the importance of quick expansion and pick the correct enemy to fight with, and in level 4 you learn that breaking bonus is often even more important than collecting bonus.

On the other hand, in the new single player level, the levels are boring as hell: just 4 players FFA over and over again, and often in tubular maps which means you just expand forward and forward without worrying about being ganged up in Asia. I feel that I am still doing tutorial and haven't really started the game at level 6. There is too much tutorial! Is it really necessary to spend two whole levels, just to teach the player to use reinforcement card(level 3) and not to start in wasteland(level 4)? And is it really necessary to spend another two levels, just to teach the player the difference between blockade and emergency blockade? What's worse is that since those levels are so easy, the player doesn't really get to appreciate the strategic value of the cards. I would see the need to use blockade card if I am facing an unstoppable enemy. But why would I even think of placing blockade(which slows down my expansion and make me lose armies!) when I start at the corner of the map and can just steamroll over the AIs by playing normally?

XDitto: single player games are to teach the basics to new players, ofcourse to a more experienced user they will feel repetitive, but that's the whole point. if you're experienced the only fun you'll mostly get is from trying to match the lowest turn count record.

Lol fan you're a joke.

1. You can zoom in if you have a brain.
2. ME SR isn't on the RT Ladder.
3. ME WR is not a lottery.
4. Fizzer is most likely not on life support.
5. Mobile update never comes first.
6. Idc or I don't understand anything else you said.

To follow on with the commentary about the new ones being boring compared to the old one, that really makes no sense. Previously you got thrown into the game pretty quickly... had two simple levels, then a medium, then a difficult (for a newer player). Now you have 3-4 simple levels, another 3-4 medium levels (for a newer player), then a very difficult level (WW 2320).

If anything, 2320 needs to be moved back since it is difficult even for established players (I'll admit I haven't figured it out after two attempts).

Either way, the current pacing makes more sense given the increased number of levels. Previously you had to advance quickly since there were only six levels, now you have more time since there are more levels. Makes perfect sense, especially since the point of these isn't to be some insane challenge at each level but to teach the game.

My strategy for passing WW 2320 on the first try:

-Don't bother defending heavily against him, he'll only eat your armies, BUT...

-Deploy a single army to every territory he touches. Every turn. THEN...

-When he deploys a bigger stack, deploy enough armies to try and take it out on your first order. It should be easy enough to contain these offshoots. Consolidate these extra armies. FINALLY...

-When the other guys are broken, your income should shoot up pretty quickly. Use those consolidated armies from before to weaken him as you can, all the while making a big stack for the final kill.

That's it. Quite honestly didn't know it was a hard level until I read the forums.

I guess I got lucky on WW 2320 :P

The big boss started to move towards Mexico and Europe from the beginning, giving me the option to freely expand in america and east asia. Later I made a huge wasteland and he started to take it down with his stack, meaning I only needed one full deploy next turn to eliminate his commander.

Interesting.

I agree that some of the levels leading up to World War 2320 seem pretty boring - the problem isn't so much difficult vs. easy as it is BORING (you're moving through fairly linear maps with a huge production advantage, so there are very few actual decisions to make).

We'd have to ask a newbie, though, to see if that's true.

World War 2320, on the other hand, I didn't find that difficult. I found it very INTERESTING, because I had to think hard about strategy, but I finished it very easily on the first try.

Those who are having trouble, here's my one-liner tip:

* The "boss" isn't your enemy. He's your friend. ;)

(Of course, you will have to turn on him at the very end, but that's just the nature of the game...)

Playing it with that mindset should help!

I agree with M. Poireau, the main problem is not the difficulty, but that they are boring. You can certainly have 4~5 medium difficulty levels, but you should try to make them varied to keep the player interested. Right now, level 3 to level 6 are all 3 to 4 players FFA on tubular maps, with just little changes in setting on each level. It feels repetitive and boring to complete them, and I don't think a newbie will have the patience to complete them, which is a pity since level 7 is when things start to get more interesting.

If I were to amend those levels, I would do the following:
Keep level 1,2,3 as they were. Then go to the castle level and introduce the blockade card. Make it a 5 to 6-player FFA, and instead of putting the player at the corner, put him somewhere in the middle, so that the player would have to use the blockade card to avoid fighting a two-sided war. And since it is the first time the player learns blockade, make the game light fogged so the player has a better idea of where and when to place the blockade. Then go to the 1v1 ladder level, and introduce territory picking there. Then go to the boss level and introduce emergency blockade there.

currently i'm at level 30 out of the 34 there are but i just hated to do 28 since it uses both LD and MA in a pretty big map where it was a 6 FFA and right now i have a 5FFA on a huge map that introduces army cap so pretty boring to go over all of the map just eliminating the AI's 1 by 1

Someone needs to post specifics on beating WW2320. I've tried it seven times. I have prevented the boss from holding any bonus each of those times, but then I get to turn 21, where he spawns 40. Then I'm fighting a powerful AI in Asia or Europe, but can't fight his 40-stack and another at the same time.

I've read all the other posts on this, and in seven tries have never seen the boss leave North America...

Further, the record holder did the level in 15 turns. Even expanding unopposed this is not possible...

World War 2320 took me a few attempts, then I realised there was a back way into Asia through Svalbard and Novaya Zemlya. A small-ish blockade on Novaya Zemlya means you can safely attack Asia from two fronts, the AI there will be fighting a little against the AI in Europe, and once you've taken Asia Europe will be easy. All the while you try to stay alive, keep some bonuses and restrict the Boss AI as much as possible in North America, but that's relatively low priority once you have some Asian income.

While writing this I decided to play it again, and the boss moved over to Asia meaning I had an easy job to take North America. You can't assume you'll be so lucky!

What I'm stuck on is the last one, World War Pixel. I've been trying to knock out the two teammate AIs as top priority instead of trying and failing to destroy the boss's spawn locations, but so far I've just had a lot of losses.
