As for etiquette it depends. A fair warning should be fine. I normally wait 2 to 3 minutes, if his teamates don't speak up for him then its boot.This is just a game with strangers, if I know the player in question well then I don't mind waiting longer.

A lot of the games I played before with ppl i knew were effectively no-boot games. If someone had something come up it just transposed to a "rt" game played as a multiday.

If I make a game with shorter than normal boot times I specify in the personal message that they will be strictly enforced so everyone is aware going in that they will be booted without warning. As far as direct boots, the Fizz dog himself says if you go over the boot time you should expect to get booted. In a real time game with 1 minute boot, I expect that my enemies or teammates will boot me at 1:01

Honestly it depends on the playgroup and what you are looking for. Some players want a full game, without outside interference. Others want a straight win, nothing wrong with either style. In open games though, expect people to be fast booters. (There are exceptions for some groups in open games who do team sets)

That makes sense. If they cant take their turn on time, they should expect to be booted. I would expect people to boot me if I went over the boot time. I usually do not wait to boot unless its someone I actually know, or the host tells people not to direct boot.

Yeah they were vulgar and disrespectful and it was unpleasant, but at least they were trying to do it as a joke. They knew what they were, and the effort was there, and I see now that that is respectable. @Roland, I don't boot because I don't like to be booted. If I go over the time limit in rt or md, I consider myself lucky if I was not booted. Sometimes, I ask not to be booted, and give my reasoning for it. People are usually understanding.

As far as etiquette is concerned, the only time you should be considerate to people is if you want to be friends with them after the game is over. I certainly wouldn't join a clan and boot my clanmates. Random people joining games, though? Sure, who cares? If you run into them again, just make sure you stay under the boot timer yourself and they can be butthurt all they want.

I haven't been in too many situations where manual boots were required. However, I imagine I would be far less forgiving in multi-day games than real time.

Now about what was asked i believe if it is not autoboot you should check hes activity and wait a bit if he is a high boot rated person then dosnt matter or else you should wait cause shit happens and send a message.

But at the same time we should not forget that the game have rules and a rule is to take your turn between the time given so i dont find it bad even if you instantly boot him.

Basicly is always about you i personally give more time if the other person tells me he got a problem and cant take on time hes round or he told me from before if it is a multyday that he needs the game to be fast.

As an example i am a very slow player in multydays but danwl asked me once to be fast cause he have to go for vacations if thats the matter yes then i will take my turns as fast as possible cause i find it correct.

OP, booting etiquette as you can see varies by the player.. many players boot as fast as possible because they think their win rate matters. good players will often wait several minutes/hours *rt/md* before booting, since booting kind of ruins the games.
personally, when I used to play regularly *pre-autoboot* I would wait 2-3X the manual boot time to boot, unless they are making it habitual, and often times would message them.
I am actually currently in a game with the old guard, that is 5d boot, and we fairly regularly wait 10-15d for a turn before booting.. actually checking it.. there has been 4 boots, 1 at 13d, 1 at 33d, and 2 were auto boots at 100d.

Imho, how strictly boot timers are enforced is a direct correlation to the quality of players you play with, and I don't mean skill-wise.
