We never said we were happy with the way it went down. But when you use a new setup there will always be things you didn't think of up front. We had no plan ready in case of a tie between templates. The new way of voting should probably have been explained better (or easier for non-native english speakers). But this is feedback what we will use for next clan league so we don't run into the same problem again.

As for the results of the votes. It sucks that it has changed multiple times due to errors but in the end it is what people have voted on most and what should be played. That some templates are not your cup of tea is probably good. Clan league should use new templates instead of over and over the same templates again. What are we playing for? Which clan is the best right? So is the best clan the one who can master a certain template best or is the best clan who can adapt best to new situations? Up for discussion but i know what i would prefer.

As for people voting strategic on templates because they have more chance on it. Why not? Doesn't every clan do that? You can consider strat 1vs1 0WR more strategic then 0SR but it just requires a different kind of skill. Some people like to play with risk calculation while other love it to count everything out during a game. So thats where we have the votes for to see what is on average mostly wanted.

As for voting in the lower tiers. It has been tradition that the clans in A vote on the templates for the season. You could say B should vote as well, but if we do so next season clans from C will complain. If B can vote then we should also be allowed to vote. So where are you going to stop? Do we really want clans like darklords and wacos to vote on templates?

Its true that different tiers like different templates. I understand the lower tiers would love full distribution RoR because that is what they play a lot while the top tier clans get nightmares from it.

Maybe what could be an idea, but what will also increase the amount of work for the organizers a LOT, would be to have each division vote on their own templates every season. When you go a division up or down you will meet new clans with different preferences which will test a clan in a new way every tier.

Well it's messed up every clan tries to vote out things their competitors are good at, so I think it would be better to let the B and/or C division to vote too and make their votes worth a bit less than in that order

I think it may be a good idea to create a thread just so people can bitch and vent about the templates over there rather then here. It'll be like screaming in a pillow, people need to get it out of their system.

@Mirage: Maybe, maybe not. But in all the cases it's not a bad thing to have some changes. All clans will have to adapt. Some templates will require ability to go outside of comfort zones. Not so bad to evaluate the best finally.

@Platinum: I confess the term democraty were misused. It's like a "great elector" system since only A vote, but this is it for them. So a member of A should not complain. Anyway, anyone should focus on lineups now. Templates has been decided. Time to try hard. ;)

Firstly, I disagree with this. In Division D, E, and F I bet few would pick Full dist RoR over 3v3 ladder. Even if it is true, so what? The exact same could be said, but in reverse.

Seems a bit contradictory to me. There's no way we get new and diverse templates if people stick to what they are comfortable with. I'm not calling anyone out for voting based on what they are comfortable with(it is the natural thing to do). I just think the system needs to be looked at.

No, there are 6 in E. Lu Fredd just dropped today btw. I will post updated divisions when I can.

Also, I have decided I will not run clan league anymore. Without being able to use my PC at work, communication the past month has been very difficult for me. What that results in is constant bitching everywhere. I used to love running the league but now that experience is permanantly soiled.

I will try to find someone reliable to take over the league for CL9. I will try and create the CLOT as well, and if the new person wants me as an advisor i will do so.

What I want to say to all this bitching is like Vader "I have altered the deal, pray I do not alter it further". However, i have tried hard to not make decisions myself and that got me even more flak (and many people who I respected bashing me without bothering to get first hand knowledge). Hopefully the next person does not have this drama.

Clan League 8 could have been the best one just by looking at divisions A, B and D...

The voting idea was a great idea in theory, but terrible in practice (strategic voting). We had too many close results and ended up having some templates very, very few people enjoy.

I will also say that resisting to peer pressure and waiting before releasing the final, official list of templates is much better than releasing the list early and doing edits to it while we're preparing.
