America is a lot better than Britain. It started small, and in only a few decades became a top-5 world superpower. The last time Britain did anything was 1900 (boer war). Furthermore, it esposed revolutionary democratic principles

Americans were beat by civilians with guns in Vietnam. British were beat by civilians with guns in American War for Independence. What's the difference?

You can't abstain the role Nixon played in the mess though. Plus the American government was the one who supported the horribly corrupt and dictatorial government of Ngo Dinh Diem.

The Conservative is derailing this with his patriotism :/ Please stay on topic.
Before we talk about how "successful" a country is, lets define success first. Since we talk about countries I guess we can forget already gone empires like the mongolian empire or the roman empire. So what is "success"? I would define success when it comes to countries, how much cutural diversity it shows or how good it is in science. So rather than a big list I would divide it into more smaller lists.
Cultural: (No specific order) - Austria (12 century - 1918; it united more ethnic group than ever before under one flag) - USA - Russia ("Russian" doesnt mean "Russian", Russia is one country that cointains more cultural groups than every other country (Siberia, Caucasus))
Science: (No specific order) - USA (especially when it comes to medicine, electronical devises, etc) - China (Paper, Black powder, Porcelain, etc) - England - France - Germany - Japan
Military: (No specific order) - USA - Russia (Try to invade it :) - England - Mongolia (not anymore) - Italy (not anymore) - Spain (not anymore)
This is just my personal opinion/list so feel free to leave your opinion here, if you want.

You forgot the Ottomans for Science and the Umayyad Dynasty for military power. The Byzantines should also be noted for their cultural achievements (i.e. Hagia Sofia).

I get what I said about minorities was a bit misunderstood, I COMPLETLY AGREE WHAT WAS SAID about democrats but my point about being the most democratic except for blacks was because there was racial discrimination in the law most of the racism today is quite stupid I mean look at BLM in collages, Meanwhile I believe the British had ended slavery and segregation in 1836 (I believe im not entirely sure.) What you said about japan I believe there is a point they have been very successful but china's scary.
