Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone could explain to me the ideal use for an order delay card. I find myself discarding them every time because I can't figure out how they help.

I'm not sure what you're talking about brother. I genuinely don't understand the point of this card and just need someone to explain its use.

If you have two similar sized stacks of armies facing eachother and you want to attack your enemies stack it is smart to use your order delay card (especially if you expect your enemy to attack your stack as well).

This is because defending armies have a advantage over attacking armies (as you are probably aware). In the case I presented above it is ideal to play an order delay card. If your attack order goes last it means that your enemies order to attack your stack goes before it. Since defending armies have the advantage it means that your enemy will lose more armies than you, thus weakening him. If you attack him after that then your bigger stack will attack his weakend defense, resulting in a bigger succes rate (or at least more of his armies killed).

If you hadn`t played the card your attack might have happened before his (depending on the amount of orders you had to delay your attack). If your attack happened before his, it would mean that more of your armies died and that his, now bigger, stack will attack your weakened defense. This will result in a bigger chance for you to lose your territory, or at least you`ll have an army disadvantage next turn.

Fyi, it makes no difference if the attack and defense kill rates are the same, or reversed. But most games have %60 attack rate and %70 defense. You want last move there, either by delay card or delaying with other movements

the only reason blue qas able to beat brown there was due to order delay

also wtf do you mean by saying you discard the card everytime you play it?why don't you use it for once yourself to know what happens,and if you still don't get it,then ask someone,if no one can answer you then check if someone's written about it in the forums(and i'm sure you won't bother to check in forums cause they're littered by your dumb posts),and if you can't find it THEN AND ONLY THEN you should post it in forums

Hey Ryiro there's no need to be a dick. I tried using the card, didn't see how it made a difference and ended up discarding. So I wanted an explanation. I searched and didn't see a topic like this, so I made a new one.

I'm sorry. Not for my original post, but that you're such an insecure piece of shit that you have to belittle other players for trying to learn more about this game.

@kicker I never used order delay cards until I joined the ladder

often it makes no difference (if your move would have been after theirs anyway, or if they did not even attack you). But many times it makes ALL the difference, between a win and loss.

I think the wiki could be a bit more detailed there. For example, it could state that a difference in kill rates is a good reason to delay orders in general. The wiki clearly defines WHAT a delay does, but not WHY

Yeah Chris that's where my confusion came from. I read the wiki but I didn't understand from that why it would give you an advantage

another tip is to play your order delay card before all your non-time sensitive orders. that way if your opponent plays a card too, you have a better chance of getting your order last still. it took me a lot of losses to realize how important the order delay and order priority cards are.

and i hope you are watching the turns and looking at history at the end of the game. it is kind of tedious in large team games, but absolutely essential in 1v1.

good to see you guys getting more into the intricacies of strategy. people shouldn't be hating but encouraging more questions like this. getting more people into strategy is a GOOD thing.

+1 Shyb I've played a lot of games with these guys, and they are getting better.

Being fully honestly, I could expect that card to be used like that, but mostly I still don't see much use. Can always move around leftover stacks of two in my territories that I no longer needed. Like that stack of 2 that stood there after you took a 2 neutral with a 3, you have no more use for the one army, and it's 10+ turns away from the fun.

I actually hoped to see if there was another practical use of that here. :(

well you have to expect your opponent to also use the order delay card in that situation (unless you know it's already been used) so you want to use the card AND move all your spare twos around.

also, a lot of times a delay is crucial and you don't have spare armies to delay with cause it's early in the game or you are a bad ass at efficiently expanding.

order delay and order priority aren't as flashy as bomb cards or sanctions, but every bit as useful (probably more so).
