I'll vote for the USA because it was crafted by some of the most enlightened and intelligent people of the time, and is largely responsible for modern industry (along with Britain) and politics seen all over the world today.

Plus it doesn't have a history of corruption, dictatorship, oppressive monarchy, or religion bureaucracy. That's something most countries can't say. Over the years the US has maintained itself fairly well. The principles on which it was founded were never abandoned.

Now culturally, there are a lot better countries. The sad truth about the US is that it used to have a main culture of its own that was formed by European Protestant settlers. However, as immigration intensified it became more "multi-cultured" and today we're nothing to be proud of in that regard.

What is principles of America? Liberalism? He became liberalism in full only when blacks were given full rights, then which principles?

Principles of America are like religious freedom, freedom of speech and the press, etc. Sure, there have been mishandlings of those but they were never completely abandoned. And if those freedoms are breached, our system allows people to appeal and eventually find justice.

@Master HFG, give me a clear example. Not a vague "you know what I'm talking about".

A United States brief history of 400 years makes it the most interesting because of principles?

Not interesting, but epic, like the topic says. Of course countries that kill, conquest, and oppress are way more interesting.

Certainly not. Why be interested in "USA fought for our independence" (with France). "USA fought in two World Wars" (so did Britain, Russia, France, Germany etc.). "USA killed the Spanish Colonial Empire" (When it was already weak).

The American history is not epic, it is not interesting, and the only reason they are more civilised is because they were brought up in a modern society, molded by the British and French, and to a lesser extent Spanish empires. It's like a kid being born in the 70s playing an Atari 2600 (Britain), compared to a kid born in the noughties playing a PS4 (America).

Whereas, if you look at the Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Chinese, Greek, or even Indian histories, there are THOUSANDS of years worth of epic battles, changes in power, territorial wars, religious wars, ages of development, collapses, reforms, the list goes on.

@Elroi It's completely subjective, so it's up to you. I'm explaining my reasoning for why I think the US is the most epic.

@OxTheArtist The way I feel, stability and human rights trump "interesting" power shifts, wars, etc.

Also, the US has been in a continuous age of development ever since it was conceived. The founders were enlightened individuals and created a system where citizens were free to come up with new ideas and inventions and profit from doing so. Arabia, Persia, Turkey, China, Greece, and India had religious and ideological power structures that hardly allowed for development.

Yes, I'm talking about capitalism and political freedom.

The German Empire had every single thing the United States had, plus one of the most efficient governments and education systems the world has seen, and a millitary that held off the entire world for four years- defeating the giant russia (albeit with a little help from rebels). All that germany needed to overtake Europe was time- time which it was never given. It would've eventually have had sufferage for all people, while the Kaiser would become a symbol like the Queen of England is today. Germany would become a social democratic haven- over half a century before the Nordic Countries would

Skourby, what you say is untrue. If Germany was given more time, and perhaps if their allies, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and Ottoman Empire would have held up for longer, they would have definitely not win. Attrition would wear them down very quickly. The British and French empires at that time were huge, much larger than Germany's, and therefore, they would get more natural supplies from their colonies. The Western Front was a stalemate for a very long time, and it definitely wouldn't stay that way, once Germany started to run low on oil. Britain and France, with their huge empires had much more oil than Germany did, and therefore could hold up a longer fight, not to mention they had a larger population, so they could have more men to fight, so they could overwhelm the German forces.

Mind you, what you said wasn't entirely untrue. Germany has an incredible culture, and a fantastic economy, even though it has previously had horrible hyper-inflation, and one ruthless dictator. Despite Hitler, Germany have had some amazing leaders throughout history, (various definitions of "Germany" may not list these leaders as leader of Germany) Otto The Great, Frederick the Great, Otto Von Bismark, Kaiser Wilhelm, and that is just the more famous ones.

In recent years though, countries are becoming far too reliant on Germany to bail them out, and if Germany don't watch how much money they're giving to those Mediterranean countries, their economy might start to take a hit.

Right, we should make a new thread and poll: which european goverment is the worst one?

Your goverment might be evil, but you are at least not governed by an uncharismatic wombat-like president:

Hopefully, 2 years more and we can get rid of him...
