Secondly, an apology for the number of Forum Threads I have made about this event. I am relatively new to this. If this event is held again in the future I will keep it to one Thread for the whole competition.

This will be the final Thread. I will comment here with details of future draws, etc. and as the Cup approaches the final we should consider what went well and what could be improved. Please comment below with your thoughts.

My thoughts at this stage are as follows:

Strengths & Weaknesses of Clan Cup 2025

1. Multiple Teams per Clan is good to allow anyone who wants to play to do so but ‘Clan Protection’ to prevent Teams from the same Clan playing each other in Round 1 should be introduced.

2. Leaving byes to a later Round has worked as a one-off to get the event going early, but the more typical approach of having byes as early as possible would be a better option.

3. Having Players ‘Cup Tied’ is good so that Players cannot switch Team mid competition is good.

4. The Draw worked well along with the wide ranging Template selection and overall competition mechanics.

5. Boot times worked well and 3d+2d banked seems a good balance.

6. Setting dates for the Draw in advance is good and even if some Matches are not complete. Having the Draw result in “Team A or Team B Versus Team C” did not cause any disruption and helped to keep the event moving forward.

7. The stated rules were good with no objections raised. Queries were able to be resolved by reference to the stated rules.

8. Managing the event manually was not an issue thanks to support making the Games in the first round. It would be better to have some of this automated.

Review of Round 2

Matches


Round 2 saw Trombones flex again winning 5-0 for the second time, the only Team to do so - this time against Meeting Adjourned. They were abandoned by the rest of the brass section having said goodbye to Trumpets who lost 4-1 to Early Birds and Horns who eventually lost 3-2 against Spirit Missing.

Pre-Tournament favourites Asslandic Turtles and O-Force 5 both make light of their second round opponents winning 4-1 against Elves and Boot Camp respectively. Dwarves ease past Snow with a score of 4-0 so far.

Featured Games

In the battle of the Doctors, Love did not find a way and Doom prevailed with DoctorDoom beating Dr Love on Guiroma. We are all Doomed ! In the other featured game, Boaty McBoatface exits the Cup with his defeat to rivankaleb meaning that rivankaleb’s Games will feature for the rest of the competition.

Thoughts on Round 3


Dwarves qualify automatically for the Semi-Finals as a result of their bye, they will also be joined by either Spirit Missing or Horns once the Game between allusernamesaretaken and Yes1 concludes.

The two Matches this round continue to see pre-tournament favourites Asslandic Turtles & O-Force 5 separated with O-Force 5 playing the as yet 100% Trombones in what could be the Match of the round. In the other Match, Asslandic Turtles play Early Birds.

The templates drawn out remain interesting with Biomes giving us our first INSS Games, Great Lakes having WR and Strat MME being perhaps the most popular strategic template being used in the 1v1 Ladder and in Clan Wars. Timid Lands and Fast Earth also add variety into the mix, Fast Earth is the only Template which has been repeated from previous rounds.

That is correct JK (although it could be 3 wins from O-Force 5).

Once we know the line up for the semi finals I will arrange the next draw, which will include the semi finals and the final. Then we'll be done !

I think that it has been quite a fun event but my opinion isn't especially important - what do others think ?

The draw for the Semi-Finals and Final will be as soon as I can arrange it. Substitutions may be made up to the time of the draw.

Remember, you must be in the Clan you represent when the games are made.

Just clarifying some finer details about being in the clan we play for.

I still identify as TLA, but my main profile (the one writing this) is in Harmony for playing Clan War. My alt is in TLA, has the same name, and links to my main. So can I play Clan Cup on my alt?

Seraph, the rule is as follows:

"9. What if I leave my Clan during the competition ?

You will be expected to complete the game you are playing but will not be to able to play in future rounds so would need to be substituted out. Players must be in the Clan they represent when each game is made and cannot switch team during the season."

The draw is likely to be made on Friday and then the games made soon afterwards so the account you used for Clan Cup must be in TLA when the games are made on Friday (or soon afterwards).

You can get around this by returning to TLA before the draw on Friday and then leaving again once the game has been made. When the date and time of the draw is set, I will post it here, but I will not be making special notifications to individuals so it is your responsibility to ensure that you have the right account in the right Clan at the right time.

The next draw will include the draw for the Final, so if your Team progresses to the Final you will face this problem again but without any notification when the games will be made, so you will need to keep track of when games complete (which will be shown in this thread). I will make the games for the Final soon after the winners of the Semi Finals are determined and will not provide any notification when that happens.

So, that is a long explanation of the simple principle that Players must be in the Clan they represent when each game is made and for clarity the term Player means the account that you used previously in the Cup.

Thanks for raising this and I apologise for the inconvenience, however:

1. Rules are rules and I cannot sensibly allow exceptions if the event is to gain traction for future years.
2. Whilst it may be easy for me to check with you or ignore that you have used an alt, this would not be so simple in the future when I may need to manually make over 100 games in the early rounds and I want to ensure that a precedent is set which provides absolute clarity for future years.
3. The strict application of the rules provides greatest clarity.

Seraph, with regard to using an alt to get around the need to be in the Clan you represent, I have thought hard about this and have made a decision. The following may be worth noting:

1. There is no clear rule which prevents you from creating an alt to get around the need to be in the Clan you represent, nor is there any rule which allows it;
2. The use of an alt in this manner is specifically and only to circumvent the need to follow another rule; and
3. You are personally relaxed about which way I decide.

So, I have decided to forbid the use of more than one account by any Player and introduce this as a clarification of the existing rules for this season. The rule will be included explicitly for next season. As such, you will not be able to use your alt for this Cup.

This ruling fits with the spirit of Clan Cup, one feature of which is to gently encourage Clan loyalty.
