Could it be considered to provide a way to download raffle data from some period of time, like was provided by JK_3 a few years ago, so more analysis could be done on that again? Either through an API or some other way.

You can search the forums for raffle and you'll find the threads where lots of analysis was done and presented on that data.

Thanks JK.

It would be best of course to make the data officially available from the site itself so that it's not dependent on trusting a player who has a conflict of interest, plus more up to date data is always better.

Should I try to ask Fizzer this more directly somewhere somehow?

You can try asking this directly to Fizzer in a mail, which is worth a shot. But prepare yourself for "make a feature request for it" answer 😅

a player who has a conflict of interest

Lol, if you think I am handwriting, generating or in any other way modifying the chat logs you overestimate how much I care for this.
Always happy to see more players generating raffle statistics tho, so I have high hopes for the results of your investigation :)

I wasn't making an accusation, but maybe it's somewhat telling when you get defensive about it... ;)

I was able to get a raffle analysis last night (like within an hour of that last comment) but I can't figure out how to share it - Sheets crashes when publishing, and if I just share it normally it leaks my real identity.

If anyone has advice, that'd be appreciated.

There's probably 3 charts that y'all actually want:

I just made a spreadsheet years ago that ingests the raffle log (with some filtering) and autogenerates dozens of analyses, most of which still work.

It can tell you who's lucky and not:

But more interestingly it tells you who's kept up a good sleep schedule for the past year, or who's at least disconnected from Warlight for a healthy amount of the day:

Nice job man.

When I looked at JK's text input file a week ago or something like that, I thought it stopped at a year or two ago- but maybe I was mistaken.

I'm interested in "streakiness", or also known as runs, within result sets that ultimately come from RNGs. I haven't learned yet how to see expected vs actual amount of streakiness within a set of outcomes. It always feels to me like it's more than should be expected, but of course my feelings about it are likely pretty biased.

Yeah the web viewer of Google Drive cannot handle the amount of lines in the document, so it only shows the start of the document. You have to download it to view it properly, Probably should have told you that earlier 🙈

I did download it but still thought it wasn't totally up to date, but still could very well have been my mistake. Thanks!

This should be a very easy analysis, if your question is "How do we know if streaks happen more/less frequently than expected from a random raffle?" That said, I'mma be real and say I won't do it, but awaythro or someone else might.

You can break it down into 2 questions:

1. Is someone already on a streak of N wins more likely to win the next raffle than any other entrant?
2. Is the distribution of streaks different than you'd expect? (You have to be careful about how you construct "expect" here, since the probability of a streak occurring varies with each raffle based on: a) whether the previous winner entered, b) how many other people entered)

Both of those are fairly easy to answer; you just need to be careful about constructing expectations.

If you get an interesting result then you probably modeled wrong because i think we can all confidently say, yeah, raffle is random (i mean as far as one would care about randomness for a chat raffle; i'm sure there's interesting non-randomness based on the actual RNG involved, but whatever)

anyway the more interesting question IMO is why does it FEEL like there's streaks. and i think that's tied to construcitng expectations in ways that don't accuont for: the same people tend to be online in streaks, same people tend to join, sometimes it's just a few people joining the raffle, etc. I think it's human intuition that underestimates or overreports streaks and that's pretty interesting

In case it turns our raffles are actually rigged, the question remains: How did JK accomplish that?
