Meanwhile Player Y won't vote to end, even though everyone else did.
Didn't want a boot, so got held hostage as someone intentionally drags out each turn.
2 players suicide to get out of that mess.

A similar story, 1 guy ruining the game for everyone, refused to accept surrenders unless those players directly threatened him, lol

and yea lots of chats from all players on the topic; in the end everyone lost interest in the game & just ganged up on him to ensure he didn't win; so yea, the strategy backfired

Yes that guy is me, this situation was completely different from OP's. I refused to accept those surrenders to gain an advantage, not to annoy those people. My mistake was to have the decency to communicate with you my reasoning and logic behind it as I thought it was the fair thing to do. I should have just ignored you all and it would have worked just fine. My strategy didn't backfire, my sense of fairness did.

EDIT:
And yes, I would say this game was one of the worst experiences I ever had in WZ, a guy rallies people against me on a quest to punish me for playing the game the way it was meant to be played.

i think that feature is mainly made for diplos where a random surrender can screw over the game. in regular games, u should always accept surrenders

What the feature is made for is irrelevant. It was turned ON on purpose by the author of the game and they joined voluntarily. That's where the story should end.

@Stanlyboy, yea that is jerk talk there... and kind of odd b/c typically it's the people that lose to players they think they should beat that make them spout nonsense like "only reason you won is you got lucky", etc. But in this case he won and was a bad winner anyhow, sad

LOL, I'm in that tourney too & regretting it. But as you, shame of me for not checking the settings, though to be fair to us, it looks legit and unless you specifically look to see that there's no base armies and not enough starting armies to capture anything, you wouldn't notice

@hard trails @5s yeah, 5s is well intentioned it's just that quite often he phrases it in such a way (I assume unintentionally, and as a result of how he thinks) to "trap" people who interpret it in an offensive way. I don't blame @hard trails for interpreting it that way, and I don't blame @5s for phrasing it that way
