Currently, you can end up with the situation where you know your friends full username, their tag and have their profile link, but somehow still cant find them.


How is this working for the CLOT? ... :/

Chat order being newest to oldest is counter intuitive since it's the exact opposite from forums, but yet it's actually useful - if you open a forum thread you've read most of already but want to read new entries from anything other than the link in chat or the notification, it starts you on page 1 and you need to navigate to the end to read the newer posts, and then scroll back to the newest ones you haven't read

This way, the newest stuff is at the top and you just scroll down to the newest ones you haven't read

Less navigation to get where you probably need to be to read it

Yes, but the problem is that its counter intuitive is that people (or at least I) dont expect it.

When I opened the chat, I instinctively clicked to the last page to find the latest messages, only to get confused about not finding them.

So while it might be more efficient, if people instinctively do it wrong, and then have to realise and correct their mistake, you end up reducing the efficiency so much that you end up with a net loss.

I would prefer to see it like in the forums, where things are oldest to newest, but with it just auto focusing on the last page.

I personally have very mixed feelings about the implementation of tags. There is much room for improvement.



3 other examples come to mind (Blizzard WoW+Hearthsone, Pokemon Unite, Discord) and they do the tags a little bit differently:
- The tags are a random sequence of numbers or numbers+digits.
- You cannot see the tag of other players, unless you go to their profile or somehow directly interact (like adding as a friend or PMin). The tags are not visible by default if chats or forums.
- When you visit your own profile, the tag is always shown (in Pokemon Unite there is a button to copy the full name+tag to clipboard)

All these allows for:
1) Everybody has some rubbish number as a tag, and there is no issues of #1 vs #2.
2) Tags are mostly hidden from the eye, unless you really need them. But then they are clearly shown.

This does resemble the old WZ thing with profile_ids.



If I were asked, was there a problem. Yes, probably it was, but the real issue was that:
1) in app you cannot easily find the profile id (even yours)
2) Search and invite features across Warzone didnot support working with profile ids.

I would assume, that direct solving of these 2 issues, would be 1) better 2) less disruptive 3) easier to atomically implement.



Now there are also a bunch of other issues. Besides everything, that has been already mentioned, there a big issues with the API.
- Game query API operates with profile_ids, so you still need them :(
- Invite to Games API requires the invite token, which is actually the profile_id. When all the links in the profile page are fixed, there will be no way to find that profile_id/token, without directly asking a person for it (and the asked person will have to go to a separate page to get it).

when searching for common games played with some people on qm, they all came up with "this player doesn't exist" or words to that effect

The new chat history dialog has two issues for me (web on Mac).

1. Once the chat dialog is opened and closed there doesn't seem to be a way to open it a second time. Once the dialog is closed it also claims there are no messages even when there are.

2. Open a game (e.g. https://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=32531736), click "chat", "public", "load older messages". The dialog shows a mix of team and public messages with no apparent way to tell which are public and which are team.

Thanks everyone for your feedback! There's an update to 5.22.1 now out on the website with these fixes:

- Classic: Fixed order of messages in chat dialog.
- Classic: Fixed team chat appearing in public chat dialog.
- Classic: Fixed not being able to re-open chat dialog after closing it.
- Classic: Fixed the attack/transfer dialog indicating that 1 army would take a territory with 1.
- Classic: Fixed scaling of chat dialog background image.
- Website: Fixed common games link.

These fixes will come to the standalone app likely tomorrow.

Amazing update! So many quality of life improvements. Straight off the bat it fixed two problems I had just last week (can't find Z and don't know which Ares to mail), and almost all of the things that were changed were things I have had problems with. In general simple changes that makes playing the game and communicating with others easier. +++
