The name tags should be useful in the scenario you outlined in your blog post, however, I'd prefer it if there was a toggle off option because I don't like seeing the number next to my name.

*BUG REPORT*

Product: Warzone Idle
Browser version on desktop - Chrome Version 108.0.5359.125 (Official Build) (64-bit) [Current]
Windows 10.

Current Map: Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire

After update, making changes to smelting / crafting takes a very long time to update on screen, and the % progress does not update continuously as it did before; it now updates once every 15-20 seconds or longer.

Action seems to go through immediately, but the results are not updated to the screen. This was tested by starting something that would take ~5-6 minutes to complete. When it finally updates it is showing ~23% done indicating that the server picked up the action, but did not update the display.

This seems to affect smelting and crafting in the same way.


UPDATE: Problem was fixed Closed / reloaded browser a few times... eventually problem vanished. Could have been a prev. version of something cached maybe.

It would be nice if the chat showed you like the latest ten or so messages whether or not they have been seen before, because the "see old chat" dialog box thing cuts off the top of the message box. It would also be nice if the view old chat still popped up inside the chat window, just with page numbers added, but I don't know if that would be hard to code in or something

This is a before and after image of the numbers on territories. Pre 5.22, the numbers are larger and bolder.
I use SA client. It has UI Scale slider which is one of my favorite features because it's much easier for me to see. In 5.22, the numbers don't scale up but everything else does.

– All: When watching forum threads, if you have an unread in-app notification telling you about an unread forum post, a further notification will not be created for the same thread until you read or delete the existing one.


This is a small thing but makes notifications great again. Currently I'm @ 1005 notifications. ): But this should help going forward. (:

Next small thing I'd like to see is a notification in games to let me know who I have had private chats with already, and maybe a button to bring it up. Rather than just having to remember the names of every player I've chatted with, and reopen the private chat with that player. If large FFAs, this gets difficult to track. And on the same topic, pls add a "Notes to self" private chat tab.

If you open the chat, then close the chat, there is no way to reopen the chat again without completely closing out the game and reopening again, which is annoying on big maps that take a while to load. Also, it is very unclear that you can move the chat dialog box around, and it is hard to tell where you should click to move the box. Additionally, if you can move the box around, you should be able to resize it like you could with the old chat

Ok, here's my thoughts:

Name Tags
I like the idea behind this. my only hope is if some of the retired OG's come back they would be #1 still.

Mute Chat
This is another great addition. This directly fixes a problem I've personally got complaints about & am so glad I'll be able to help friends & clan mates etc from now on.

Highlight armies to use in no-luck games
This is a great addition to help noobs out. I would have liked something like this when I was new.

Re-ordered some achievements.
Love LOVE love this one. I looked at my profile right after I saw this & I feel like more meaningful achievements are now farther up & highlighted on my profile.

When rating a map from a single player level, a very visible alert is now shown to ensure players know they’re rating the map and not the level.
This is much appreciated as well. I know people who have tanked map ratings by using the map to make insane community challenge levels. Hopefully this fixes that too.

Idle: The game now detects when you’re moving idle from one device to another and prompts you to confirm you’ve closed it in other places first, to help avoid data loss.
Wish we had this when I started playing Idle lol would have saved so many glitches


Chat Dialog
and
Classic: If you have more than 50 templates, the “Load template” page now separates them into pages to increase performance.
I do not like these at all. I realize it probably had to be done, but I have a powerful PC that can handle larger loads. Additionally, I find it easier to see larger lists. For example, when I look through past games, I always set it to "View 200" first thing. Perhaps a "View All" button or something similar could be implemented to give the old behavior to those who's machines can handle it?


Overall, I like this update a whole lot. Thank you Fizzer for all the hard work you put into the game!

Yeah, cause the profile urls have completely changed (from Profile?p=31105111944 to Profile?u=JK_3_1), so what will break a lot of things. Luckily, that old profile urls auto-redirect to the new ones, but nevertheless this little change has broken a lot of things behind the scenes.

I'm afraid the same will happen to the warning on QM that it auto-enables MD games for you:
too much text, and a big green button to click, so lets just click the button without reading.

Regarding the rest of the stuff in the update:

400 player games

Nice, though I wonder how big of a boot party those games will be. Anyone with 300+ coins that can figure out the cost of a 400 player game?

This is a quality-of-live improvement which will help save a click, and also helps smooth over a common newbie complaint where they can’t figure out how to attack after changing their deployment method.

While the slider auto advancing is a great QoL idea, the fact that it stays open to allow for undeploying means i now have to do an extra click anyways to close it, so -1+1 = 0 clicks saved.
I dont think it really solves the newbie problem either They somehow didnt get the fundamental basics of the game from the tutorial, and I'm not sure how that should be fixed.

Chat Dialog

Awesome new update! So glad I can finally read chat now :)
The only thing it needs is a border/frame around the chat so its clear that its a seperate window, and maybe a little tab poking to the side with an icon so newbies can also figure out they can move the popup around.

As a little side note, now that all the chat is split into windows, its impossible to search for keywords or players in the chat. Could you please add a feature to search chat by message content and player name?

Amazing! Besides helping newbies it also helps dumbasses like me while ;)

– All: When searching for players by name, you can now search for players with names with fewer than 3 characters.

Now I can finally find Z and JK!

– Classic: Fixed a bug that allowed players to forward a tournament invite to someone who had block listed them.

Thanks so much for this! Now I can finally load my 200+ templates in under a minute!
And with the tourney spammers now properly blocked, I can live life a little bit more peaceful again :)

– Mods: Added TerritoryModification.RemoveSpecialUnitsOpt to make it easier to remove special units.
– Mods: Added GameOrderCustom.OccursInPhaseOpt to allow mods to specify which area within a turn custom orders are allowed to occur.

Sweet, this will prevent so many game crashes going forward.

Guessing the name tags is why I was getting “Could not connect” in real time games once every so often.

I like how it’s now so much easier to remove special units :)

I would like to switch off the highlight armies setting. It shows that you can take a territory of 1 armie with 1 armie, which is not the case. This should be at least 2 armies. More experienced players already know how many armies take another territory, so for them it isn't needed.

I prefer the old situation with the deployment slider. The pop-up stays now till you click on a territory and you can't move it away. This could be annoying when you want to move armies from the next territory as the first move.

Ah yeah, thats an annoying one.

While on the topic of deployment settings, since I deploy my armies using CTRL + click in the attack phase, I would like an app setting for always starting the game on attack phase instead of deploy phase.

Also, there is a bug with the url's to renamed accounts now working:

https://www.warzone.com/Profile?u=JK+is+testing+ghost+accounts_1 should redirect to https://www.warzone.com/Profile?u=JK+is+testing+account+renaming_1 but it doesnt. Currently, you can end up with the situation where you know your friends full username, their tag and have their profile link, but somehow still cant find them.

Big Chat in Games:
  • I noticed too when I close the chat, there is no chance to reopen the chat.
  • Also I notice when a new message is send, it doesnt automatically update the chat. You need to close the game and reopen the game to see new chat.

    EDIT oh.. just noticed the chat just hide behind the past chat tab ^^
