I get and agree with your point about him not clarifying the unusual rule.

If you saw the "multiply armies by 25%" bit and still thought it was an increase though, that's kinda your own fault.

Augustolord should have been more clear, and you should have read the fine print and known that multiplying by less than 100% is always a decrease.

So you are complaining that the function of the card is not written by the host in the settings while the card itself tells the function in the settings.
I always found it ridiculous to blame the host of games for someones self incapeability of reading.

As I said it is a play on words. And any company that makes a game knows your make the rules simple and easy to understand. You don't trick the players. This is a trick and is cheating.

It's not cheating, and shouldn't be called as such. "Cheating" is reserved for instances where there is an unfair advantage to 1 or more players. Nothing of the sort is happening here - the info is available if you view the game settings.

Nowhere does the host state that the cards will increase your armies. The description is simply how the game mechanics work, and you're expected to know that 25% = 0.25, and multiplying by some value 0<x<1 is a reduction, x=1 is no change, and x>1 is an increase.

If you want to make an argument that the description isn't clear, take it up with Fizzer - but I personally think it's clear enough once you understand how the math works (the x<1 is a reduction part), and you should never run into this problem again unless you don't read the game settings.

In short, if you don't read or don't understand the game settings, pls don't blame the host or accuse the host of cheating. Take ownership of your own lack of diligence to read & understand the settings.

You post rules for a game but you don't list the nature of changes you have made to those setting so it is cheating. Same as the New England football team deflating there footballs. They were still using a football but never told anybody it had a lower air pressure then it was suppose to! BUT IT WAS STILL CALLED CHEATING!

Assuming that wasn't a typo by the host (it looks like so): Is it dirty? Yes. Cheating? No. Blockade multiplier is one of the settings you would expect players to read before playing. 1.4 multiplier e-block and 5 multiplier e-block are basically two different cards, used in different situations.

The reason why many players "defend" the host, is because we are tired of players who don't read settings. Lots of players surrender turn 1 in the custom scenario because of bad starting position. Or join the game without reading rules. "Negative" blockade cards are somewhat common in maps with negative bonuses. Many players are able to play that as a normal blockade, even if there is a warning in the host's message. That really destroys the flow of the game.

Which it is why it is cheating. You get new people and low level people in here all the time they are new! And when this happens to them how do you think they feel you talk about people been playing a while. But you don't want to care about the new players. There are other gaming sites all over the web. You want to keep players not lose them. New players come in gets screwed over because of a cheating host and guess what he does he leaves this site for another gaming site where cheating and tricking players can't happen. So you tell me new people join this site run into being tricked by a cheating host. Do they stay here or do they say well let me try Activision or some other gaming site. You want people to stay not get them mad and leave. And you talk about reading but this is a trick card and a way of tricking people because it is not described there is nothing there to say what it really does, you talk about people not reading. But what is there to read when there is nothing there to tell you what the card really does! There is no explanation saying use this card and your forces get reduced by 3/4. What is there to read? Nothing no explanation. Which it will always be called CHEATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It clearly states: use this card and your troops will get reduced.

Let's try a different approach.
Did you discuss the card with the host? If so, in which tone and how did he react?

Aparently you can't be conviced of this not being cheating. However, be aware that you are damaging augustolords reputation for nothing. That's way worse. Whenever someone searches for his player name in the Warzone Threads, he will get to this one.

If he put the card on 25% intentionally, he totally deserves reputation damage.

Where the heck do you see the word reduce?? It is not there so when you say it says reduce but the word reduce is not there then your not seeing nothing from a cheating host.

When asking the augustolords about the card his exact reply when I called him a cheating Host!

augustolord: "it's your choice to use them or not, it's the same for everyone"

And though all the remaining players are talking about it that was his only comment in the chat about it. He just push's us to take our turns and ignores the 1000 pound gorilla in the room. So he did it on purpose nothing there about it being a mistake no denials! As for augustolords reputation!!!! That someone here is so concerned about. We started off as a 28 player WWII game and are down to 6 players. augustolords has in place when somebody wants to surrender everybody has to agree to that player surrendering. And do you know why augustolords put that in place. He stated early in the game when the first player tried to surrender that he does not believe in letting any player leave the game and surrender out of the game. So you know what happen many players let themselves get booted. Since the host augustolords was the only hold out to accept there surrenders. Three players that also surrendered but did not want there boot rates to go up gifted me there lands to me and gifted themselves out of the game. So a lot of players don't want to be in his games because of that. So it's turn 40 and we are down to the last 7 players. For 5 turns another player wanted to surrender but oh look the host augustolords is the lone hold out and won't let him go. Also on turn 40 the Host augustolords launch's a full scale PE surprise sneak attack on me on the 25 plus lands of mine that boarder him. NOW lets see the rules his rules clearly state you need to declare war before attacking. LOOK MOM no declaration of War from the Host of the game! And not one little mistake of oh sorry I attacked you in one spot a full scale sneak attack at every place on our boarders. He kept on begging me to forgive him. I kept telling him return all my lands and compensate me for the armys I lost if you want my forgiveness. He said no we should keep playing from this point forward but kept whining and begging me to forgive him! Yeah Right! He is the host and breaks his own rules he sets fourth making himself a PE and he wants me to FORGIVE HIM! No way he wants me to justify what he did and he is the HOST! At that point 2 other players declare war on him one of them is the player he will not accept the surrendered too. Another player augustolords ally seeing what has happened knowing augustolords will not let him surrender and leave lets himself be booted from the game bringing us down to 6 players. At that point I use one Blockade card and now we have the cheating host setting the game blockade card so he can cheat! So augustolords ruined his reputation during this game in a step by step process, But that is what happens to cheaters!

You know, the proper way to respond to a counterpoint or to someone who disagrees with you is to consider it, and if you disagree with the counter, to calmly explain why. And remember, even if everything you say is absolutely true and can be proven beyond the shadow of a doubt, people will still say you're wrong. You made your point, people have a right to disagree, respect that right.

As for this argument, I believe it is your responsibility as a player to read the rules and consider them. Quite frankly, I'd rather play a game with four other players that actually read the rules and game description and chat, and hence are more likely to follow the rules and use the settings to their advantage; than with 39 other players who couldn't be bothered to read more than a paragraph, and hence have no idea what they're doing and complain when they're told they broke rules they didn't read or when settings they didn't read are poorly used because they didn't read them. I know these are both extremes that most players don't fall under, I'm simply making a point.
