The world is ending, but not tomorrow. It's already been a year since the last time it happened and it hasn't come to pass yet. The world was in danger of becoming uninhabitable due to global warming long before you were born. It wasn't until humanity started developing better technology that they managed to make any progress at all.

Life exists to serve the order of the world. Everything that occurs in the world serves a specific purpose. If you understand this, then life is already explained to you.
