I see this on open games a lot, what does it mean? I assume it's a game mode.

FFA stands for Free For All.
The game mode is actually all fight against each other - no rules, everything is allowed.

extent of vocabulary is distinct from intelligence. it's normal that a new players sometimes ask questions.

Also depends on your gaming experience. Regardless of whether I'm clever enough to figure it out what FFA means in a WZ context or not, I've personally seen the term used in other games like StarCraft, etc, so that it wasn't even a point of question for me.

First time someone sees it, not surprised that someone doesn't understand it.

Ground to Air
Anti-air or Auto-attack (depends on the game)

There are many many more of these.

And all this is important when playing an RTS (real time strategy) or FPS (first person shooter) or other game that distinguishes among air/ground or special/normal/auto/etc attacks.

Gaming has a rich vocabulary.

despite of what all these guys say, ffa is fist fight arena. it's a game in which we pump up our fists in rage when we're losing.
