1997+ is zoomers. To be a zoomer you must not remember life before 9/11 or really understand how much the world changed. Having an iPhone in middle school has to have been a normal thing for zoomers too- you have to be able to take consumer tech for granted.
Late Millennial gang best gang. We were born early enough to remember life pre-consumer tech revolution but late enough to not have had to live through too many of those lame years.
I had a BlackBerry Pearl in middle school when the iPhone came out and all the kids started getting it. Of course, iPod Touches were already ultra-dominant; I didn't have one, I listened to Green Day on my BlackBerry and got made fun of for it, 'cause what kind of loser listens to music on their smartphone instead of buying a separate MP3 player? I also remember the tail end of that era when having a Walkman made you cool.
So if you got your first phone before flip phones were no longer cool, before the iPhone came out, you're not a zoomer.

Noticeable: you've made a superficial conncetion between "2000" and "millennial" it does not refer to the birth year, but the cultural and economic context in which the generation came of age.
