There are actually 2 maps of the Americas already. Just not as huge as this one.

While I absolutely appreciate the creativity and artistic style of those maps, they don't offer what I want, which is size but also simplicity, political borders, and a standard map projection.

Also you forgot about Nate's "Western Hemisphere" map which, according to the comments, left a lot to be desired to say the least.

There is definitely a place for it once complete. It's very detailed.

Don't forget the water lanes, though. There should be water lanes all over to make the north/south traversal easier. If it's a land slog with only water lanes between the islands and the nearest landmass, it'll be unfortunate.

Hadn't seen Nate's before. Actually that's a good example of noticeable lack of good water lanes.

Hawaii is the best water lane territory he has, and you can only go to Cali, Oregon or Alaska. WTH?

Then Galapagos only goes to Costa Rica & Ecuador. Nope nope nope.

Maybe do that for state/regional capitals? Could make a distribution mode out of the capitals as well.

Bonuses for all the state/province capitals seems excessivd. But appreciate the idea. Most likely I will do big cities and national capitals. Then again that leads to some problems, like having to include the entire state of Massachusettes as a city bonus.
