The HK team is in ruins! a few months ago, when the olympics came out, we had 2 players, which slowly grew into 7. Now 2 of them are inactive, and one of them keeps declining my games! help!

Hi Rento,
Me again ;-)
Just curious to understand the slide pairing.
It means that on every round, there will be a favorite and an outsider.
Which means we will never get duels between 2 top teams, nor duel between 2 bottom teams, did I get it right?
Would it make any sense to alternate adjacent pairing and slide pairing every 2nd round?

@ jojo fair point.

@ rento, i propose Something (sry for English)

imagine there are 20 teams

1st round is random
2nd round, 1st vs 20 / 2nd vs 19 etc....
3rd round, 1st vs 11 / 2 vs 12 …..
4rd round 1st vs 5 / 2nd vs 6 …..or 1st vs 9 /2 vs 8
5rd round 1st vs 2nd / 3rd vs 4th …..

Every Swiss Tournament leads to adjecent pairing in the end, so 1vs2 3vs4 etc will happen. The question is how to organise the first rounds.

With what I'm currently going for, and supposing that the favourites always win, with 24 teams it would look more or less like this:
1vs13
1vs7
1vs3
1vs2
1vs4 (highest ranking team available that you did not play before - this answers LF's question)
1vs5

ok. I think I got that.

But now I have some more problems to get how the matches between to country teams work.

When I got it right then one nation team plays against only one other nation team in 1st round.

All players play 2 (or 3) games only on Guiroma against 2 (or 3) players of the opposing nation team.
Who or how to decide the pairings?

When first round is over, every nation team collected up to 24 points (12 games x2 points per win = maximum 24 points)
The nation teams are sorted by points. Most points 1st. Less points last.

Depending on the achieved ranking the next opposing nation team is decided.

In second round you play against this nation team. But only on French Brawl.

then teams are again sorted by collected points.

In the 3rd round you play another different nation team only on template3

teams sorted by points again

4th round another unplayed nation team on only template 4

I'll do the pairing of players and it will be random.

No, they will be sorted by matchups won. So after first round half of the teams will be at 1 win and half at 0 win. Well some may be at 0.5 because I allow draws.
When number of wins is the same, they will be sorted somehow, probably by initial seed or highest seeded team beaten (whichever is better) but for sure not points won.

Depending on the achieved ranking the next opposing nation team is decided.

In second round you play against a different nation team. But only on French Brawl.

then teams are again sorted by collected points.

sorting by points

Apart from sorting by points. what you said is true. But I don't see a question? :)

Generally I don't think players need to learn all the advanced details of the pairing system etc. It's my job to make it work, players simply need to win games :)

imo, after slide pairing for the first round, it goes with swiss logic (so all teams at 1 vs teams at 1) and the matching between teams with the same number of wins is done with the same slide pairing logic of turn 1.

Other point: how do you deal with stalling? It may quite alter the matching.

Yes Hergul that's exactly what happens.

Serious stalling of your losses will get you paired with stronger opposition than you should be matched with. That's a disadvantage. So there's no problem imo. If you're gonna lose, it's more beneficial to your team to surrender in time.

Rento, chose whatever system you like and keep the details secret, as his exelency Prince Otto vn Bismarck said:

''To retain respect for sausages and laws, one must not watch them in the making.''

So everyone will judge you eventually, don't give them arrows - you are doing a wonderful job

@riskyboy88 I was being sarcastic

Thing is, I want the rules to be clear, so that if anyone has decent suggestions, I can use them.
