3. Returning players (seeded) ~ distributed according to seeding across the 5 groups
Group 1: 1st, 10th, 11th, and 20th seeds
Group 2: 2nd, 9th, 12th, and 19th seeds
Group 3: 3rd, 8th, 13th, and 18th seeds
Group 4: 4th, 7th, 14th, and 17th seeds
Group 5: 5th, 6th, 15th, and 16th seeds

Note: There will be a total of 20 seeded players (4 in each group)

Ok, all currently unseeded players, and all new players, have been invited.

As there are highly ranked players who have not got back to me with their intention to participate, it is possible that seedings may change, therefore, no seeded players will be invited at this stage.

Invitations to seeded players will be sent two weeks before tournaments are due to start to allow as much time as possible for latecomers to receive a seeding. (April 17th will be the cut-off, with any player asking to participate after that date automatically considered to be unseeded)

I have decided that, instead of adding ranking points for group D and E after the restart, it would be better to do it now and then leave it the same. This means that for past players returning for the restart, the results of their last 3 seasons at Group E level or higher will count toward their ranking, rather than only those results at Group C level or higher.

Ranking points are earned each time you win a game in Group A, B, C, D and E. They are not directly used to decide who promotes or relegates, but I am considering using them in the tie-breaking system as an alternative to using a tie-break tournament or fastest turn-speed.

Group A will give 8 ranking points per win.
Group B will give 4 ranking points per win.
Group C will give 2 ranking points per win.
Group D will give 1 ranking point per win.
Group E will give 0.5 ranking points per win.

For the restart, the top 20 ranked returning players will be seeded across the 5 groups (4 per group) using the results from the last 3 seasons they participated in. This means that past players who have not played in the most recent seasons can still receive a seeding based on past performance.

Following the restart, all ranking points will be set to zero regardless of any individual's performance prior or during the restart of the league. This way, our first Group A winner following the restart will also be ranked #1.

Points will be accumulated over the 3 most recent seasons of the Small Earth P/R League. Note that this will be different from the restart, where I used each individual player's last 3 seasons. Once 3 seasons have been played, players will need to defend their ranking points from the 1st season in the 4th season, and so on.

Hopefully this ranking system makes sense. Please feel free to ask if you need any point clarified.

Once invitations have been sent to the seeded players, tournaments will be started either:
1. When every invited player has joined. Or
2. On the 1st of May.

New players can still sign up for the restart until the first group tournament is started. Get in ASAP if you are wanting to participate!

That is exactly it. One of the reasons why I created the ranking system was to give known good players the best chance to qualify.

Cut-off date is May 1. All tournaments at that time that are waiting for players to join will be started without them.

Oof. It's a pretty hard system. Have 2 bad games and you are in Div C already, although you have been playing in Div A for a long time?

However, I'm in. I just think that 3 games are not enough to make such a big decision, whether someone plays in Div A or D. Especially because all of us also know, that fist-pick-luck is involved.

There are 10-11 players in each group. If you finish top 2, you go to Group A. 3rd-4th to Group B, 5th-6th to Group C, etc.

The better players should at least make it to Group B by finishing top 4.
