Seems the hype around MotW has died a bit. So, I am thinking giving 1 coin for voting in it might be something? I hope that would work as a good incentive to get the number of votes up.

Also, maybe a small coin prize to the mapmaker who wins MotW too? Would be a nice incentive for our best mapmakers to keep up their awesome productions.

Well, also would be interesting if anyone who currently doesn't vote in MotW think this would work. Since, I vote every week after all the incentive is not needed on me.

And Fizzer has said in the past that he doesn’t want rewards for things like this so people don’t just rig it for the reward.

The problem with map of the week is visibility, not incentive. The only places it's linked to are from the multi-player dashboard and the community drop-out. and the multi-player dashboard is a flash-only page. As more and more people migrate away from Flash, they stop seeing map of the week.

Eventually I want to add a community tab to the Unity app, and I plan to have map of the week on that. This will fix the issue.

What about the possibility of a MotW ladder? I rarely ever join the MotW, since I usually don't look at the Open Games tab (i.e. enough games from QM, ladders, tournaments).

Having it as a ladder would probably get a lot more players to vote, and actually play the MotW.

That would require someone to make and test a template every single week on a map. Not to mention that some games could last forever on some maps. Think Hex Earth or Big USA.
