Here it is so far: https://www.warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=69693

Here is its reference video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TXzW4nF7fU&t=287

This map is huge, around 2500 territories. The timeframe for this is 4000 BC to today. The territory borders so far are also accurate to the countries at that time.

What do you guys think? Are you hyped?

I may need help with this:

'

How do I make Mesopotamia constantly switch between players, as in players conquer one another rapidly, but have places like Egypt remain unchanged? How do I show events like Alexander the Great conquering Persia, without it taking too long? I've been thinking about having the territories with rivers, lakes, or a coastline connect to its neighbors and the territory beyond, but I'm not sure about this. Any tips?

One more thing, that red circle is 15 x 15.

make the territories very long and stringy so they have lot's of bordering territories. you could also have enclaves to create a bigger web of connections. that would encourage faster expansion in mesopotamia

Those large lakes in Iraq were created in 20th Century BTW, will they be removed?

I will remove them, you're the one who's video I'm referencing to.

Progress so far:

The circle is 22 x 22, I'm starting to add modern day borders as well.

I've decided on the Mesopotamia borders problem, the fix will be to have all rivers and coastlines connect to 1 more territory outward, to show water transportation.

Should I add Arabia, or should it be a decoration as a vast desert?

Update: I made the lakes bonuses, I will make the lake's values 0, and they will show up as white. I'm also going to make this the entire history of the Middle East, which should be easy because I have a lot of territories.

One more thing: I underestimated the size of this map, it's currently at 2021 territories.

I'd have it as a decoration

will remove them, you're the one who's video I'm referencing to.
Nice! On top of that, this may be useful: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nome_(Egypt)
And this is the source for that coastline in Sumer:

Thanks for the reply! I've already used the original map for making my general coastline and the historical Sumerian coastlines. I might add little "outposts" for Saudi Arabia's western coastline, to show that civilization actually extended down there. A question I'm having is how would I represent modern Saudi Arabia in territories if Arabia is just a decoration? I also need references to start making territory names.

One more thing: What happened to your Qing Dynasty map?

Heads up on Arabia: I'd recommend you add the western coast (just the very coast) as territories, while keeping the inland out.

Mostly because Egypt is too safe of a region right now, and it's pretty dense in territories (and likely bonuses, as such). Arabia would add a minor early-game threat by having some sea routes there, perhaps.

Good progress so far, by the way.

If you want to include parts of Arabia, look at this:

Somewhere along these lines, but fill it up to 2-territories deep inland so you can actually add quick bonuses there, and fill down to the very bottom limit of the map to have a sea connection skipping the Sinai straight into Southern Egypt.

Basically, turning Arabia into some sort of counterpick for the Delta/Sinai region, as you could just take the Suez-ish area and lock yourself in Egypt for tons of income nobody else can touch. Giving this small area some dense but isolated bonuses will make it powerful for an early fight and giving it the sea connection will counter the defensiveness that Egypt has.

I have an idea. Instead of having Arabia connect to Egypt, I'll have Canaan connect to the Egyptian Delta. It makes sense historically and strategically, because whoever conquers Canaan conquers Egypt. It will also force players to start in the Delta, like real Egypt.

Do you mean the Tang Dynasty one? I haven't given up on that, I'm just making it in stages. I'll get back to it at some point.
