A new version is out! Here's what's changed:

3.17.3.21 2017-03-23:
- Added the ability to change the map when creating games. Filters and sort will come later.
- Added the ability to add or remove players from a lobby game.
- Added the ability to save create settings as a template.
- Added the ability to create a new game from an existing via the template link in Settings.
- Overhauled the look of the Create Game page.
- Set a minimum size on the Configure Teams dialog so it doesn't look bad when sized down.
- Prevented multiple Configure Teams dialogs from being opened at the same time.
- The lobby now has green inspect buttons next to each player instead of having the names look like links, keeping with the theme preferring buttons over links.
- Caches mini profile results, so clicking on a player's inspect button rapidly no longer causes a request to go the server for every click.
- Fixed a bug when inviting players to multi-player games that caused weirdness if you searched for someone who was also on your friends list.
- Fixed a bug with the graphs that caused the vertical axis label to overlap the numbers when games had insane numbers of armies. Thanks to Muli for reporting this.
- Fixed a bug that caused some player names to not be known when loading a template on the create game page. Thanks to Muli for reporting this.
- Fixed a bug that caused player bubbles to not reset when dropping them in an invalid place. Thanks to Muli for reporting this.
- Fixed a bug that caused the "number of friends" label to be incorrect when dragging player bubbles around. Thanks to Muli for reporting this.
- Fixed a bug that caused an error when clicking rapidly on the inspect player buttons. Thanks to muli for reporting this.
- Fixed a bug that occurred if the "add to game" button was clicked while dragging a bubble. Thanks to muli for reporting this.
- Fixed a bug that prevented open seat prereqs from being viewed in a lobby game. Thanks to muli for reporting this.
- Fixed a bug that caused teammates orders to not appear on the map. Thanks to muli for reporting this.

I have played a lot of Unity games in the past. Love them.

However, according to Kongregate, Firefox 52 has removed support for Unity Web Player. Does this affect it?

A new version is out! Here's what's updated:

3.17.3.22 2017-03-24:
- When creating games, added the ability to change between auto dist and manual dist.
- When creating games, added the ability to switch to custom scenarios and edit scenarios. "Copy to all", special units, and slot editing will come in a future update.
- Added sort, filter, and search options to the map browser.
- The map browser now shows how many maps there are in the text at the top.
- Note: There's a bug on the map browser that causes your personal map ratings to not be present. It will show as if you haven't rated any maps. This will be fixed in the next server update.
- The template name is now shown on the Create Game section. An asterick is appended if you've modified it since it was loaded.
- Added the ability to delete and rename templates.
- Made a change to the way the Wait Dialog works to try and fix the rare autopilot error. If you see the wait dialog behaving oddly, such as staying up on the screen after the operation has completed, please report it to Fizzer.
- When creating a custom single player game, AIs are added automatically like they are in Flash.
- Fixed a bug that made an empty panel appear at the top of Create Game when creating a custom single player game.
- Fixed a bug when editing personal message that caused the text to auto-scroll to the top when clicking. Thanks to muli for reporting this.

I'm pretty sure eventually you won't be able to play with Flash, either, as Flash is dying and eventually won't even be supported by the major browsers. I'm curious why a WebGL plugin won't work for you though? Are you on an ancient browser or something and unable to upgrade?

A new version is out! With this release, the ability to create games is now at feature-parity with the Flash version! This is a big milestone. Here's the changelog:

3.17.3.23 2017-03-29:
- Added the "Copy to all" button to the custom scenario editor, just like what Flash has.
- Added a "multi-select" box that allows selecting multiple territories at once in the custom scenario editor. As a shortcut, this can be turned on by holding Shift.
- Added the ability to add and remove special units to custom scenarios.
- Added the ability to edit player's slots on the players screen.
- Added setting icons to the main game screen and settings dialog. Thanks to TBest for the suggestion.
- Added the ability to set all initial distribution settings when creating games (distribution mode, wastelands, initial neutrals, etc.)
- Added the ability to set all army settings when creating games (luck modifier, fog, overridden bonuses, etc.)
- Added the ability to set all boot/surrender settings when creating games (boot timers, surrender/boot into AIs, times can come back from AI, etc.)
- Added the ability to set open seat prerequisites on games you create. Prerequisites that were used less than 0.1% of the time were removed to help simplify this page.
- Added the ability to set all card settings when creating games.
- Changed the default template options to set instant surrender to on.
- When settings are locked, the game now shows the "X settings on this page are hidden since they're locked" message just like Flash.
- Tournament icons now open their tournament in a browser window when clicked.
- In the lobby, when getting prompted for a color, the dialog now uses buttons instead of radio buttons so you can select a color in one click.
- The plus and minus keys (non-keypad) on your keyboard can now be used for zooming in and out, in addition to the P and M hotkeys.
- Fixed a bug with the custom scenario editor that made armies not appear on the map if you changed them while a slot was assigned.
- Fixed a bug that made closing the Create Game scene animate the wrong way.
- Fixed a bug in the lobby that made prompting for team or color not work.
- Fixed a bug that made purchased colors not appear in the color selection list.

So when is the Flash version officially dying out? Also, I was thinking of a possible new feature where you can make alliances in game rather than assigning teams?

I see only 3 options there (min level, boot percentage, 1v1 win percentage). There won't be more?

Can't there be an option where you can take over your teammate? Sometimes he surrenders or get booted in winning position. Very frustating as you think you can win the game.

(Altho I'm sure this idea has already been contributed somewhere else)

To those submitting feature requests, please submit them here: https://warlight.uservoice.com/forums/77051-warlight-features or start a new thread to talk about them. This thread is for talking about the new unity client, not for feature requests (it would get too busy otherwise.)

The deal with open seat prereqs is that the current Flash page is way too complex. New players have a very hard time understanding how to use it, and mistakes are frequent. So I ran a database query to look at what fields in this page are actually used, and found that the following fields encompass 99.9% of the usage of this page (in order of most used):

1. Minimum Level
2. Maximum Boot Percentage
3. Minimum Number Of Games Completed
4. Minimum Ranked 1v1 Win Percent
5. Maximum Level
6. Minimum number of days since signup

Minimum level is the most used prereq. This is a way of saying "I don't want to play with people under level X", which is basically a noob filter. People use this as a way of avoiding playing with noobs. So this one stays.

Maximum boot percentage is used to avoid playing with people that get booted a lot. This is understandable, and this one stays.

Minimum ranked 1v1 win percentage is a way to filter by skill. I would argue that it's not a very effective way, but it's the best way that prereqs allow it so it's staying. In the future I plan to introduce something better for dealing with this.

Minimum number of games completed and minimum number of days since signup are also noob filters. I almost included these too, but after thinking about it for a while I couldn't come up with a valid reason to use these instead of minimum level. They all have pluses and minuses but having three ways of filtering noobs shouldn't be necessary.

Maximum level is a prereq that allows filtering out people above a certain level. I suspect people use this to try and farm easier games. Just like with the 1v1 prereq, I think we need a better mechanism for matching people based on skill which will be coming in a future update. I believe this one should be removed since we don't want there to be any downsides to leveling up.

I would prefer it, if the "Minimum number of games completed" filter stayed.

Simply because I think it's way more accurate to say someone who played 500 multi player games has a certain amount of experience, than to say that someone level 50 has a certain amount of experience. Following the motto "learning by doing".

To reach level 50
  • You theoretically only need to win a few (big) FFA games, which doesn't give you a lot of experience
  • You could have played a lot of single player. And I don't think single-player-players can be matched with people who have experience in multi player games.

Another point is that there are still a few people out there which have played a lot of games, but are still a very low level, because they played their games before points were introduced. With only a level filter they would sort of be punished / treated as "noobs".

The way it would currently work, it would also sort of say, that a player using an ad blocker would gain less "experience" from their games.

I would be OK with bringing back "Minimum number of games completed". We can talk more about this. It has pros and cons -- the cons are that someone could lose most of their games, so they completed a lot of games but didn't learn much if they kept losing. Points are only earned on wins.

A new version is out! Here's what's changed:

3.17.3.24 2017-03-30:
- When expanding/collapsing the players and orders list, the map now resizes gracefully instead of jumping around.
- Coin games now have an icon at the top of the game screen to remind you that you're in a coin game.
- Fixed an error on the Bubble Wrap map when there are insane number of AIs. Thanks to TBest for reporting this.
- Fixed an error with local deployment if you had hundreds of bonuses. Thanks to TBest for reporting this.
- Fixed a bug that made some territories not appear on the Floating Islands map. Thanks to Njittam for reporting this.
- Fixed a bug that caused an error in the custom scenario viewer when clicking on a territory that was assigned to a slot that wasn't assigned to any player. Thanks to Njittam for reporting this.
- Fixed a bug in the custom scenario viewer that made the number of armies string end with "plus"
