Congratulations to Outlaws, who staged an impressive comeback and may be able to end up 3rd, which noone would have guessed before this season started.

Personally, I am looking foreward to CL10 and hope next season will start soon.

I don't believe TJC can hang right now in B unless their alts become mains. 7th Heaven and VS are clearly superior imo and more balanced. Maybe a third place can be realistic for TJC for now unless changes happen to their clan.

It's not how u start, it's how u finish!

It feels awesome beeing part of such a great comeback. We were far behind on a relegation spot after a horrendous start in the season, but everyone really showed some mental toughness by starting such a comeback. That's alltogether the 3rd time i witness such a great comeback by an Outlaws team. The first time on such a high competitive stage. It seems like Outlaws really have a unique character and i'm proud to be part of it. Finishing on a 3rd place and beating some really good clans is just amazing.

Congratulations to Masters for an impressive win of CL 9 and congratz to One, who came with us into the division and also finished on the podium.

Who would have thought that, 2 promoted clans would finish on the podium? I didn't expect that.

I can't wait until the next season kicks off.

Congratulations to Masters and ONE! for 1st and 2nd. Great achievements.

Edge says it all really, It's only a credit to the members who are continuously giving it to the clan trying to improve. We may not be individually the greatest clan if we judge player by player but as a team/unit we do our best as a collective group.

Well done to Turtles and Lynx for keeping up in A and condolences to Blitz + French who I hope won't die out cause that's never good to see a specfically "French" Community die out or a traditional clan like Blitz go. Hopefully they compete well in B.

Best of luck to MHunters and GG who will bring the A division even a bar stronger in terms of strength and class.

Update #32 - September 18th:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEIChrdTbA0

3v3 -
  • Deadman's Rise of Rome [FINISHED]:
Tournament Winners: Jefferspin/Master Atom ◆Elite◆/Master of the Dead (MASTERs)

    • Turtles defeat Blitz. Turtles break out of the three-way tie for last place to move into fifth place with an overall 2-4 record. Blitz finishes RoR with a 1-5 record, but are saved by ONE! from receiving last place.
    • Outlaws defeat ONE!. Outlaws secure their second place finish (losing the tie-breaking game to Masters prevents them from getting first). Meanwhile, ONE! finishes last despite defeating the winning team on DRoR. Magic.

    Standings ~ MASTERs: 5-1 (1-0) / Outlaws: 5-1 (0-1) / Lynx: 4-2 / French: 3-3 / Turtles: 2-4 / Blitz: 1-5 (1-0) / ONE!: 1-5 (0-1)

  • Europe [FINISHED]:
Tournament Winners: Master of the Dead/Master Sarah♦/Sephiroth (MASTERs)

    • Europe is finished.

    Standings ~ MASTERs: 5-1 / ONE!: 4-2 (1-0) / Turtles: 4-2 (0-1) / Lynx: 3-3 (1-0) / French: 3-3 (0-1) / Outlaws: 2-4 / Blitz: 0-6

2v2 -
  • China [FINISHED]:
Tournament Winners: Master of the Dead/Master Ryiro/PanagiotisTheGreekFreak and Timinator • apex (MASTERs)

    • China is finished.

    Standings ~ MASTERS: 5-1 (1-0) / Turtles: 5-1 (0-1) / Lynx: 4-2 / French: 3-3 (1-0) / ONE!: 3-3 (0-1) / Outlaws: 1-5 / Blitz: 0-6

  • Guiroma [FINISHED]:
  • Tournament Winners: Beren • apex and Muli (ONE!)

    • Guiroma 2v2 is finished.

    Standings ~ ONE!: 6-0 / MASTERs: 4-2 (1-0) / French: 4-2 (0-1) / Outlaws: 3-3 (1-0) / Lynx: 3-3 (0-1) / Blitz: 1-5 / Turtles: 0-6

  • Final Earth [FINISHED]:
Tournament Winners: Master Farah♦/#Master [QB] and Timinator • apex (MASTERs)

    • ONE! falls through the roof with their last remaining games on FE. They lose all their remaining games to finish second-to-last with an overall 2-4 record. Since they have more than two finished games at the time of this update, I will list out their completed games below with a short explanation of how this affects their opponents' standings (in order of game completion):

      • French defeat ONE!. French finish FE in fourth place with an even 3-3 record.
      • Blitz defeat ONE!. Blitz move up to fifth place (by beating ONE! in their tie-breaker match), which also saves themselves from another last place tournament finish.
      • Outlaws defeat ONE!. Outlaws go to third place (losing their tie-breaking match against Turtles cost them second place) and have the distinction of winning the last 2v2 game in Division A.

    Standings ~ MASTERs: 5-1 / Turtles: 4-2 (1-0) / Outlaws: 4-2 (0-1) / French: 3-3 / Blitz: 2-4 (1-0) / ONE!: 2-4 (0-1) / Lynx: 1-5

1v1 -
  • Volcano Island [FINISHED]:
    Tournament Winner: Master Jz (MASTERs)

    • In the last 1v1 game of Division A, Master Jz of MASTERs wins the critical game (critical in that it solidified Masters' 80%+ win rate, which breaks the record for highest win rate in Division A to date) against alexclusive of Lynx. Jz goes undefeated in Volcano Island, while alexclusive ends in second-to-last place due to losing the tie-breaking game against Outlaws. Congratulations to Jz!

    Standings ~ MASTERs: 6-0 / Blitz: 4-2 / ONE!: 3-3 (1-0) / Turtles: 3-3 (0-1) / Outlaws: 2-4 (1-0) / Lynx: 2-4 (0-1) / French: 1-5

    Standings ~ Lynx: 5-1 (1-0) / ONE!: 5-1 (0-1) / Blitz: 4-2 / MASTERs: 3-3 / Turtles: 2-4 (1-0) / Outlaws: 2-4 (0-1) / French: 0-6

  • African Elitism [FINISHED]:
Tournament Winner: master of desaster (MASTERs)

    • African Elitism is finished.

    Standings ~ MASTERs: 5-1 / Lynx: 5-1 / French: 4-2 / Turtles: 3-3 (1-0) / Outlaws: 3-3 (0-1) / ONE!: 1-5 / Blitz: 0-6

    Tournament Winner: malakkan (ONE!)

    • Phobia is finished.

  • Strat ME [FINISHED]:
    Tournament Winner: #Master [QB] (MASTERs)

    • Strat ME is finished.

7th Blitz 56 56 =
Masters (1) finish CL extremely strong by annihilating the competition, with their 80.300% win rate surpassing the former win rate record held by apex. They have 193 total points, an overall 53-13 win record, and 8 tournament wins.

ONE! (2), the underdogs, lose their last four remaining games which bumps their win rate down to 59.090%, but doesn't alter their amazing performance (especially considering they were a prime candidate for relegation in overall predictions). They have 138 total points, an overall 39-27 win record, and 2 tournament wins.

Outlaws (3) finish third after being near relegation (no small feat), with an even 50.000% win rate. They have 121 total points, an overall 33-33 win record (duh), and 0 tournament wins.

Turtles (4), after being the most volatile clan in terms of rankings-change, ironically finish in the position they occupied the longest during CL. Turtles have a 50.000% win rate, missing out on 3rd place by a single point. They have 120 total points, an overall 33-33 record (doh), and 0 tournament wins.

Lynx (5) the favored 2nd place finishers, completely proved everyone wrong with their amazing performance in CL. They have 115 total points, an overall 31-35 record, and 1 tournament win.

French (6), with their collapse in 1v1s, ended up relegating with a 37.880% win rate. They have 97 total points, an overall 25-41 record, and 0 tournament wins.

Blitz (7) the predictable relegation slot, managed to stay above a 25% mark with an eventual 25.760% win rate. They have 56 total points, an overall 17-49 record, and 0 tournament wins.

CL9 Division A MVP Post to come tomorrow. Stay tuned.

I'd like to say it's been a pleasure to be Division A's scorekeeper, but then I'd be lying to myself and everyone. I'd like to blame Deadman for telling me it would be easy and myself for believing him.

Speaking as someone who first set the record that Masters currently beat, the record is probably gonna stay where it's at with the general skill of group A consistently improving. Masters will eventually lose. Will they go on a 3 win streak of CL? Maybe beat Apex's record for 4? Who knows. Eventually though another clan is gonna field a more motivated and skilled team. Being at the top is hard, you have this nagging feeling in the back of your mind telling you to just keep yourself right there, and the reality is that if you're not improving you're dying. So Masters will have to continue improving or someone's gonna come around and knock us off of 1st.

What's going to be mostly overlooked because of how badly Masters beat everyone is how ONE and Outlaws outplayed Lynx and Turtles. Lynx and Turtles were shoe-ins for the pedestal and both failed to make it in the top 3. That's a good example of what happens if you don't improve and stay motivated per season.

A little Apex pride here to show you how awesome these guys are:

30-6 83.33% winrate from Beren, MotD, and Timi

<3 Soooo beautiful.

It's the moment everyone has been chaining their vacations for...

MVP Awards!

In this post, I'll be highlighting not only impressive individual achievements, but also clan-wide achievements each clan obtained during CL9. CL is not just based on the performance of one person, so I'll try to recognize as many players as possible in this post.

CL9 overall MVP goes to the MVP of the winning clan. In this case, the MVP for MASTERs will also be given the title of CL9 MVP.

7th Place: Blitz

Blitz didn't do so well in Division A, but they still had a couple good performances.

linberson went 4-2 in Strategic Greece for a total of 12 points and finished in third place.
awesomeusername went 4-2 in Volcano Islands for a total of 12 points and finished in second place.

Runner-up MVP for Blitz is: linberson - who gave Blitz 12 points with his impressive performance in Strategic Greece (sadly, the only tournament he played for them).
MVP for Blitz is: awesomeusername - who played 3 tournaments for Blitz, and accounts for 16 of Blitz's 56 points (28%+ of their total!).
(These two MVP performances account for nearly half of Blitz's TP.)

6th Place: French

French is the second clan relegating due to their 1v1 performance, but they also had a couple of good tournaments – namely in the team format of CL.

Phaeril and Qi went 4-2 in Guiroma 2v2 for a total of 16 points and finished in third place.
Wazz went 4-2 in MoD’s African Elitism for a total of 12 points and finished in third place.

Runner-up MVP for French is: Phaeril - who played 3 tournaments for French, and accounts for 39 of French's 97 points (40%+ of their total!).
MVP for French is: Wazz - who played 3 tournaments for French (one with Phaeril), and accounts for 42 of French's 97 points (43%+ of their total!).
(Clan-wise, French went 3-3 or better in all team tournaments, so their team ability was definitely not the issue in their relegation. Only MASTERs have them beat in terms of team performances.)

5th Place: Lynx
Lynx had a rather disappointing season since they were expected to finish second, but they still had some strong performances in tournaments.

Hades, AWESOMEGUY and Quicksilver/독일남자(Rob) went 4-2 in DRoR for a total of 20 points and finished in third place.
ZeroBlindDragon and Kaerox/Quicksilver went 4-2 in China for a total of 16 points and finished in third place.
Hades went 5-1 in MoD’s African Elitism for a total of 15 points and finished in second place.
AWESOMEGUY went 5-1 in Strategic Greece for a total of 15 points and finished in first place.

Runner up MVP for Lynx is: AWESOMEGUY - who played 3 tournaments for Lynx, won a tournament (Greece), and accounts for 47 of Lynx’s 115 points (40%+ of their total!).
MVP for Lynx is: Hades - who played 3 tournaments for Lynx, and accounts for 50 of Lynx’s 115 points (43%+ of their total!).

4th Place: Turtles
Turtles had a lot of boots, namely off of their 1v1 games, but scraped enough good performances to land themselves in fourth.

Nackickwind, culpa and Oh went 4-2 in Europe for a total of 20 points and finished in third place.
Buns157 and Nackickwind went 5-1 in China for a total of 20 points and finished in second place.
Oh and USA Biches went 4-2 in FE for a total of 16 points and finished in second place.
Buns157 went 4-2 in Guiroma 1v1 for a total of 12 points and finished in third place.

Runner up MVP for Turtles is: Nackickwind - who played 3 tournaments for Turtles, and accounts for 50 of Turtles’ 120 points (41%+ of their total!).
MVP for Turtles is: Buns157 - who played 3 tournaments for Turtles, and accounts for 41 of Turtles’ 120 points (34%+ of their total!).
(Quick note about how I determined MVPs: Buns has a lower TP score-age than Nackickwind, but that is due to Nackickwind playing in both 3v3s - which are weighted the most out of all CL wins - and Buns playing in neither. Buns has one more win overall than Nackickwind does, so he gets the MVP award for Turtles.)

3rd Place: Outlaws
Outlaws stumbled early, being the first ones to have a nominee for Darkpie of CL9, but managed to pull through late in the season to achieve an impressive podium finish. They have a couple notable performances.

Kezzo, Edge and Bonsai went 5-1 in DRoR for a total of 25 points and finished in second place.
Njord and TheRiverStyxie went 4-2 in FE for a total of 16 points and finished in third place.
Krzysztof went 5-1 in Old Strat ME for a total of 15 points and finished in second place.
Edge went 4-2 in Phobia for a total of 12 points and finished in second place.
Njord, after being subbed in for Nynwhen in Volcano Islands, won both remaining games for a total of 8 points. Kind of makes you wonder how he’d perform had he been put there in the first place…

Runner up MVP for Outlaws is: Njord - who played 1½ tournaments for Outlaws, and accounts for 22 of Outlaws’ 121 points (18%+ of their total!).
MVP for Outlaws is: Edge - who played 3 tournaments for Outlaws, and accounts for 41 of Outlaws’ 121 points (33%+ of their total!).
(There were better scorers than Njord in terms of TP percentage per player, but Njord had much more impressive performances in both FE and his subbed games on Volcano Island than any other players’ performance[s] for Outlaws.)

2nd Place: ONE!
ONE! - the underdogs - one of the relegation candidates going into CL9, surprised everyone by not only not relegating, but also finishing all the way in second place by a comfortable margin over third. They naturally have a number of great performances owing to how high they’ve placed.

Beren•apex, Holdway and Ragnarok went 4-2 in Europe for a total of 20 points and finished in second place.
Beren•apex and Muli went 6-0 (undefeated) in Guiroma 2v2 for a total of 24 points and finished in first place.
PJ017 went 5-1 in Guiroma 1v1 for a total of 15 points and finished in second place.
PJ017 went 5-1 in Strategic Greece for a total of 15 points and finished in second place.
Grizzlis went 4-2 in Old Strat ME for a total of 12 points and finished in third place.
malakkan went 5-1 in Phobia for a total of 15 points and finished in first place.

Runner up MVP for ONE! is: PJ017 - who played 2½ tournaments for ONE!, and accounts for 36 of ONE!’s 138 points (26%+ of their total!).
MVP for ONE! is: Beren•apex - who played 2½ tournaments for ONE!, won one tournament, and accounts for 52 of ONE!’s 138 points (33%+ of their total!).
(Honorable mention to malakkan who won the other tournament credited to ONE! and accounted for 28 of ONE!’s 138 points.)

1st Place: MASTERs
This CL in Division A wasn’t even close. Masters won CL with a 55 point lead over second place, which explains how they broke the record for highest win-rate in Division A. This subsequently means that almost all of their performances are noteworthy, but, in the interest of completion, I will (sadly) write out all of their excellent achievements.

Jefferspin, Master Atom ◆Elite◆ and Master of the Dead went 5-1 in DRoR for a total of 25 points and finished in first place.
Master Farah♦, Master of the Dead and Sephiroth went 5-1 in Europe for a total of 25 points and finished in first place.
Timinator•apex and Master of the Dead/Master Ryiro went 5-1 in China for a total of 20 points and finished in first place.
master of desaster and rouxburg went 4-2 in Guiroma 2v2 for a total of 16 points and finished in second place.
Timinator•apex and #Master [QB]/Master Farah♦ went 5-1 in FE for a total of 20 points and finished in first place.
Master Jz went 6-0 (undefeated) in Volcano Islands for a total of 18 points and finished in first place.
master of desaster went 6-0 (undefeated) in Guiroma 1v1 for a total of 18 points and finished in first place.
master of desaster went 5-1 in MoD’s African Elitism for a total of 15 points and finished in first place.
Master Jz went 4-2 in Phobia for a total of 12 points and finished in third place.
#Master [QB] subbed for Master Ryiro in Old Strat ME and went 4-0 for a total of 12 points. Masters finished Old Strat ME with 15 total points and in first place.

Runner up MVP for MASTERs is: Master of the Dead - who played 2½ tournaments for MASTERs, won 3 tournaments, and accounts for 58 of MASTERs’ 193 points (30%+ of their total!).
MVP for MASTERs is: master of desaster - who played 3 tournaments for MASTERs, won two tournaments, and accounts for 49 of MASTERs’ 193 points (25%+ of their total!).
(master of desaster receives Masters’ MVP award over Master of the Dead based on nearly identical conditions in determining Turtles’ MVP [see above for the reasoning and substitute Master of the Dead for Nackickwind and master of desaster for Buns157]. Fun fact: Master of the Dead holds the highest TP for any player representing a single clan in A (58 points), making him “Biggest Carrier in Divison A” for CL9.)

As Masters’ MVP is master of desaster, he is also the CL9 MVP. An especially big congratulations to him!

So, once again, congratulations to CL9 Division A’s MVPs, and especially to CL9 MVP master of desaster! I spent a lot of time making this as a token to your invaluable contribution to your respective clans.

And with that, my scorekeeping duties are over. You can have your little after-season meet-and-greet celebrations in this thread, but keep it under 400 since nobody wants to see an elitist circlejerk for so long. Unless there’s drama. Which in that case, I’ll be disappointed with anything under 570.
