Was Warlight captured by Facebook?
Btw i can voteon my own posts :)

Also i could write sonething very useful. Getting a lot if upvotes and edit it to "you all suck" (you see the ") Would I keep the votes then?

This is now getting closer to redit

Reddit uses votes to rank the order threads and comments appear. Hiding them like this is awful.

Just like reddit, people will use the downvote button primarily as an 'i disagree' or 'i don't like you' button. You can see that happening in this thread.

Welcome to the Warlight Echo Chamber I guess. Going to be hilarious seeing politics threads with 100% of comments hidden.

(I predict it will take less than 15 minutes for this comment to become hidden.)

You can't see the numbers either? wow.

Great idea, very poorly executed.

Shouldn't, like instead hiding a thread, can they just be pushed down lower in the list?

People want to debate and people don't want that. So if the down voter wants to hate then the thread will be lower down the lis, so the ongoing debater can continue chatting.

Plus, there are people who are gonna abuse it and use it as a tool to publicly much certain people, regardless if the post is relevant to the topic or not.

Also, you could just blacklist people you don't like, rather than downvote each and every one of their posts. And give everyone the right to post images. As long as it's not something illegal (child porn, drugs, crimes, etc.), there's no harm.

A successful idea if moderation is more heavily involved in dealing with CP, drugs pics etc.

reddit is also always hiding downvoted comments

You must be a noob ;) Turn off the downvote threshold in settings.

I have yet to find post that is hidden but should not be.

Actually in this thread there is a lot of stuff hidden that should be but I don't see why these should:

Do I get banned for disliking Fizzer made threads?

Great, one of my posts already got removed.

Any post can be criticized but there are posts worse than these that are not hidden.

I got to say I had my doubts on this new thing yesterday when it got implemented. I thought the system would be awfully abused and that it was an overall poor thing to do.

But after looking what the forum became with this vote/downvote thing, I couldnt agree more with it.

Stupid content is almost entirely gone, I'm reading interesting upvoted threads, I would have ignored because they got buried under OT junk or seemed just a stupid troll thing (ex: the Fizzer interview thread).

Also by looking at which threads got hidden, they're all spam, stupid things, nazi stuff, anonym or cat posts. None will be missed.

For the OT, it has really become a livable section again, 30+ hidden threads really cleaned it up well.

For people complaining of free speech, that's a stupid argument. I'm all a defender of it, but warlight is a PRIVATE site that happens to be Fizzer's work and creation. If Fizzer wanted to prevent every player under level 50 of posting in the forum, he could. It's not attacking free speech if you're preventing people to do stupid things in your work. If you want a private forum without voting/upvoting features, you can create it or move to one.

Well done Fizzer, this was in my opinion, a great update.

Eh don't be mistaken, your threads don't get downvoted for not being liberal but for being total trash.

In this forum one of the few things liberals AND conservatives agree, is that you are a total pain in the ass.

Nothing wrong with hiding spam-threads. I totally agree with hiding them. Also I start to like the voting. It seems that it actually helps cleaning the fora and promoting useful threads.

Didn't think a forum update was ever coming. If it ever came I kinda always thought that a quick fix along with it would be that the forums width would increase to make use of that dead black space to the right. I toggled the ads back on just to see if all the space was actually being used, but no. Pretty sure my display is standard too so what's up with all that space? Checked the site on my mobile also and still theres clear excess space...

Anyway, I like the update, but the thumbs would be better if they were fractionally smaller maybe, and certainly if they were to the immediate left or right of the user's profile. Most of the time you'll see short posts, and you're often scrolling a little excessively and needlessly through a thread because the thumbs are both large and below the user profile.

My biggest peeve is opting for thumbs over arrows; the Facebook, Youtube generation see a thumb and it's a more of a like/dislike button; not upvote/downvote, and it seems that that's precisely the association you want to avoid.

Here's a quick example of the suggestions (I only changed the first post and moved the ad):

It's harder for me to be against this now that all my own comments are not being hidden, as I assumed they would be. Seems to be used on hardcore troll spammers like anonym. Still see some changes that could be made though. Like showing the # of votes, and making those buttons less hideous.

Big hands are useful on mobile, but not that great on web. I'd recommend using media queries (or some other method) to have them larger on mobile but keeping them small on browsers. Maybe a little bit larger (1.5x) than reddit upvotes/downvotes.
