I agree 101%. For proof, just look at the predictions prior to this clan league. :-D

Seriously though, training tags will always be rated lower than their actual worth because the temperature is always cooler in the shade, and Lynx casts a mighty shadow.

Nobody knows how good the current 101st is or is not because they have not had an opportunity yet to prove themselves. To use the ladders as an analogy, they do not yet have enough completed games to be accurately ranked.

We usually can't let him participate in Clan Leagues and such cause he's too OP. Gives us an unfair advantage...

True, didn't realices about VIW having 5-1 too. Well, no idea how to break the tiebreak :P

Well for whatever reason, the game decided to give us 1st place, so I guess we'll just go with that. ;)

But that tournament had replacement games so the "official" classification doesn't work ^^U

Easier way to break the tie, look at the games between the 3 first places, and take the team points difference for each game. The clan that got the higher points "lead", that being bigger lead when winning and smaller difference when losing, is the first.

This system benefits the clan that stalled the less his defeats and got the most consequent victory.

Jokes aside, very cool 3v3 results guys, VIW, Sninja and 101st did a great job here. Watched a few games, gj y'all, it's probably impossible to choose who's the best EU team of division B.

Since there has been a great deal of speculation regarding which clan will be allowed to participate in the 101st team's spot in Clan League, the clan league council has decided to give their final ruling.

While we recognize that both Outlaws and 101st have arguments as to why they deserve the spot, we ultimately decided that Outlaws is more deserving. We'll detail our decision process, and though we understand that 101st is unlikely to be happy with the decision, we hope they will be able to understand why we came to this decision.

History

Firstly, we have had a few situations in the past in Clan League where there were similar clan splits. The first situation was with CPU disbanding, with most members either going to BIA or XCD. In that case, since the majority of members went to BIA, BIA were awarded CPU's spot. XCD joined the league and started from the bottom and CPU didn't compete.

The second was following the creation of Lynx as a separate entity from 101st, which happened before CL5. In that case from the CL4 lineup all members of 101st moved to Lynx; from the CL3 lineup 4 members moved to Lynx, 2 stayed in 101st, and 3 went to neither; from the CL2 lineup 1 moved to Lynx, 6 stayed in 101st, and 2 had retired. 101st kept its spot and promoted to A, while Lynx started from the bottom. 101st proceeded to come last in CL5 scoring only 36 points with a 17% win rate.

The third case was before CL8 when most of XS left to create ONE. In this case 1 member of the CL7 lineup remained in XS, while the remainder went to ONE. Two members of the CL6 lineup remained in XS one of whom had gone inactive before the split. Likewise two members of the CL4 lineup remained in XS, while four went to ONE. ONE was given the spot in B, while XS didn't compete at all.

Current Situation

Of 101st's originally submitted lineup for CL8 which promoted from B to A, one member (Jinxed: 2 slots) is still in 101st, one (Panagiotis: 1 slot) is in MASTERS, one (Benoit: 1 slot) is in VS, one (Marceline: 1 slot) is inactive/clanless, and five (Platinum, Tac(ky)tical, MarkusBM, TeamGuns, Bonsai: 13 slots) are in Outlaws. The one member still in 101st (Jinxed) is inactive. There were regrettably replacement games, however it was made clear at the time that the choice for the replacements would have no bearing on which clan would get the spot.

In any case, we decided to let the new 101st leaders and the Outlaws leaders come to a mutual agreement as to who would play the replacement games with the hope that they would be able to resolve this issue amicably between themselves. There was disagreement as to who would play the replacement games, but ultimately faced with the prospect of forfeiting the right to the games, they settled on Kantos (in 101st, but started the season in the Lynx), and Bonsai (in Outlaws). Later Marceline was replaced with Edge (in Outlaws).

Of the CL7 lineup which promoted from C to B, two (roque_nacho, siwy: 4 slots) are clanless, two (Grickface, Sarge: 4 slots) are in 101st, three (Andre1994, TheRiverStyxie, Platinum: 7 slots) are in Outlaws, and one is in Lynx (ZeroBlindDragon: 3 slots).

Of the CL6 lineup which relegated from B to C, two (roque_nacho, sven65: 7 slots) are clanless, two (Sarge, Sargon de Fair: 8 slots) are in 101st, and one was MasterMind Apollo's alt which had remained in 101st after the 101st/Lynx split.

Conclusions

Ultimately all three of the historical situations were slightly different in more or less important ways, and none of them is identical to the current situations. While the panel believes it's important to maintain continuity with the league's past, ultimately we want to make the right decision. Not all past decisions were perfect, and it's important to use precedent to enable the us to arrive at the correct decision rather than be forced to make bad choices.

That being said, the most recent precedent is the situation of XS/ONE where we reversed the ruling with Lynx/101st which most people decided later to have been a mistake. In this case it is slightly less dramatic than the XS/ONE case where only 2 active players who had ever played for XS remained in the clan. However, in CL8 13 slots were filled by active Outlaws members, while 0 were filled by active 101st members. While Jinxed is still technically in the 101st clan, he was last seen 94 days ago. The CL7 lineup is a little more balanced, but Outlaws had more slots and players than 101st in that league as well - 3 and 6 as opposed to 2 and 4. In CL6 101 had about half of the slots and Outlaws had none, but that team was relegated from B to C, so it's tough to say that that lineup "earned" 101st's spot in A.

In the end when you consider that 13/18 of the slots in CL8 are filled by Outlaws members compared to 0/18 by active 101st members, and a plurality of the slots in CL7 were also filled by Outlaws member it seems clear that Outlaws is more deserving of the spot in Division A.

Hijacking Concerns

We are sensitive to fear of the hijacking of a clan league team, and we do want to institute a policy which will safeguard against it. We have some ideas in mind and are finalising the details so that we can strike a balance between rewarding players for their accomplishments in the tournament, while ensuring that clans don't lose spots that they deserve to keep.

Well, thanks for the update on that matter Beren.

I am happy with the decision, and I do believe it is fair and just. I do realize it is not very encouraging for 101st players, but we played this season to promote to A, and it'd be a shame to get promoted and just lose the chance to play with the best. I feel sad for you guys, as it could have been a reverse decision and I'd be in your spot now.

My time in 101st was great, and I think I speak for all that we were proud to play under 101st banner for this season. It is sad that we had to leave the clan, but it was the only solution at the time, I hope you guys keep rebuilding the clan and succeed at it!

We're very excited for the new challenge ahead and hope to provide a high level of competition in division A next season.

Unfortunately it has been a very complicated situation and we would just like to extend a huge thanks to the clan league panel for the thorough discussion and detailed reasons for the decision. We know it can't have been an easy one.

We wish 101st all the best in their division next season and hope they also do well.

Thanks again and see you in the clan league guys wooooo!
