Looking for a strategic clan: 4/25/2016 20:53:04

Hey Everyone,

I'm looking for a new clan. I was with XS since I started on here, but there does not seem to be much going on with them anymore. They sent me an invitation on day two and I accepted it then. I've never played a diplomacy game, so I'm definitely looking for a more strategic clan that will help/teach their members.

I don't want to try to get into a clan that wouldn't accept me based on my record. If whoever is reading this would look at my profile and offer some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Probably the one thing holding you back would be your ladder performance. If you could hit something in the 1600-1700 (or better yet the 1750+ range) you should be able to make it into a decent large clan.

Right now, I'd say your best options are:

1. Hydra- https://www.warlight.net/Clans/?ID=237

They're a merger of two older clans- Appalachian Warlight Federation (2nd in Clan League 7, Division D1) and Illuminati (2nd in Clan League 7, Division D2). Fairly competitive, definitely have some members that really get the game and can help you grow. They also seem to be the clan most oriented toward player growth.

2. {101st} https://www.warlight.net/Clans/?ID=7

They're the junior branch of one of the elite clans ([Lynx]) and are themselves fairly competitive (3rd in Clan League 7, Division C) and under highly active leadership. I'd say they also have a solid mentorship program through their ties to [Lynx] and certainly some great players as well.

3. M'Hunters - https://www.warlight.net/Clans/?ID=141

Another growth/learning clan (3rd in Clan League 7, Division D1) but with a little bit less activity and skill than Hydra/{101st}. Hydra/{101st} leadership also seem to be more active, but M'Hunters have solid players and internal mentors as well.

4. CORP- https://www.warlight.net/Clans/?ID=60

In raw participation (going just by numbers on ladders), CORP is really, really solid. However, I think what they lack the most is a concrete mentorship program and strategic diversification- as you can tell from their Clan League 7 performance (4th place, Division D1), they hadn't really branched out to team games and currently, ime, their players struggle with less commonly used templates + CORP is underrepresented at the top tier of strategy and more of a middle-tier clan. They also don't show up as often on less mainstream strat events.

All four of these participate heavily in inter-clan events and strategic tournaments. Along with the elite clans (MASTER, Apex, [Lynx], etc.) they're basically the backbone of the strategic warlight community.

I think you've got a solid shot at each one, too.

An obviously wrong assumption. What is true however is that 101st, Hydra and C.O.R.P. are more welcoming than M'Hunters, as a strategic clan we don't accept players who pick 5 spots in ladder games.

@Norman: not saying that your leadership is inactive, just that Blortis/Benjamin/Illuminati leadership knock it out of the park with how much free time they throw at their clan.

Picking 5 spots in ladder games is easily corrected if a clan is willing to put in the effort into teaching the player about picks.

To dismiss a potential recruit who has only been playing for 5 months and does actually seem to show potential is a bit petty don't you think? His old clan wasn't active and it's obvious nobody has taken the time to teach him. Even considering all of that, his stats aren't bad at all for someone who has only been playing a few months.

If you meant 5, that makes no logical sense, no Hydra nor 101st (CORP is huge so I'll lay off comments) player would pick a prime number amount of picks in a 1v1.

If you meant 6, you are also wrong. I'm not arguing.

Btw knyte, M'Hunters are much much more skilled than 101st or Hydra.

1. If we're talking just 1v1's, you could've narrowed it down to just even numbers since you'll always be making 2 * number of starts picks.

2. Also, limited full distribution exists- and there it makes no difference between making 2 * n picks and 2 * n - 1 picks. Nearly all prime numbers can be expressed in the form 2 * n - 1.

Wow Norman, seriously, try and be less of a dick... This comment is just unecessary, and just further takes down whatever reputation you have.

Also, it's unfair to say that Hydra/101st recruits anyone when your clan has way more members than the other 2.

If M'Hunters is actually significantly more skilled than Hydra/{101st}, then their Clan League 7 results at least indicate an organization problem.

@Knyte, it is fine to suggest CORP... but I feel like you could have mentioned your bias somewhere there :p

Anyway, the best way to view a clan is to read their presentation of themself at their page. (WHich, the man with many alts, did link too)

Some notable things from each page, throug DO visit all of them.
https://www.warlight.net/Clans/?ID=237
Hydra uses a Skype chat to communicate and a Skype account is necessary.

- Good 1v1/2v2/3v3 Stats (50%+ win rates are sufficient)
- Good Ladder Stats (Ratings of 1750 1v1, 1800 2v2, 1600 3v3 are sufficient)
- Low boot rate (Single digits are good)

101st https://www.warlight.net/Clans/?ID=7
is a small competitive Warlight community and Lynx's brother clan.

We're only accepting good players, that are willing to improve and participate in clan activities. Mail platinum if you believe you're good enough for the clan

https://www.warlight.net/Clans/?ID=141 MH (obligatorely mentioning that I am from the clan)
Tagline: Social and Competitive

Our competitive requirements are that you show some skill and know how the game works. Please check out our strategy guide linked above. If you don't play according to what we state there you will get neglected.

Especially when you like real time team games you will have an easy time finding teammates around the clock from our clan.

CORP https://www.warlight.net/Clans/?ID=60
We are a RP+strategy clan. Our goal is to provide our members with a community that helps them develop as players, quickly find people to play with, and be part of many internal games and tournaments, both strategy or diplomacy-based.

▶ Preferably <20% boot rate
▶ Preferably Level 20 or above

Also, there is plenty of other good strategic clans that have not been mentioned here.
