Yes, Cairo was really big and powerful. Since the Fatimid era, Egypt is the center of the muslim world, and all powerful caliphates were based on it. It was still recent, but a great city nonetheless. And considering the Seljuq invasion is one of the setups that weakened Baghdad to empower Cairo, that makes extra sense.

On the buddhists:

Qingdao, Luoyang, Chengdu are some examples of big cities worth a mention. Can't tell much about them though, I don't know my east asian history well enough.

Was Ayyuthaya already a thing back then?

I'll probably add those cities, the list isn't quite long enough at the moment. We just need to be careful not to add too many Song ones, because it's not supposed to be that far ahead of the Liao Dynasty. I'll also make a provision for Ayyuthaya.

Regarding the Seljuq invasion, they hadn't reached Baghdad by 1045, so Baghdad hadn't been weakened yet.

Weren't Nanjing and Beijing still massive cities during this time?

Nanjing is a good suggestion, I might add that. Beijing didn't become hugely important until the Ming era as far as I'm aware.

Chengdu was a massive city back then (is still big up to this date; been huge since the three kingdoms era). But then again, into would fall into Song again... Song has pretty much all the goodies I know of.

Yes, we don't want Song to be too OP.

On behalf of zxctycxz (my IRL friend)...
the map is almost finished, but we need some help deciding on how to style the bottom bar with the religion bonuses, as its not very pretty at the moment.
one of my suggestions is to make it look like a temple made of sandstone or marble, but we want to hear your ideas

Great work as always from zxctycxz. Just some notice. As I know the Nogai horde came with the mongols in 13 century but I cant tell contemporary name instead of. Bassarabia named after Basarab who birth in the 14. century, rather use Atelkuzu for Bassarabia and Levedi for Western Steppe, these are authentic names for the regions by the geographic work of Byzantine Emperor Purple-born Constantine.

You misplaced Esztergom city, it is in Székesfehérvár territory (wich is used for Pest city) but very close to Presporok territory, so Presporok would be misplace too but lesser misplace than in Eger territory. And rather name Buda city for bonus instead of Pest because Pest is in the other side of Danube and it was unsignificant town in that time, Buda was the royal city with castle.

And if you used hungarian names almost everywhere in Hungary its more consistent if use evreywhere (Hunedoara-Hunyad, Zvolen-Zólyom, Presporok-Pozsony).

Perhaps base them off of famous religious buildings-

model the Islamic after the Umayyad Mosque, the Indian after the Thiruvarangam, the Christian after Notre Dame, and the Buddhist after Potala Palace

Or symbols instead of buildings. Cross for christians, crescent for muslims, Aum or swastika for hindus and wheel or lotus for buddhists. Of course nicely detailed artistic ones.

Thanks Urfang, I will implement those changes. I may indeed use religious symbols instead.

Oh, well I saw your post after I added the Swastika. Is there much point changing it?
