Today on Under the Microscope, brought to you by *cough*a mysterious alt*cough*, readers will have the satisfaction of a doubleheader edition featuring two smaller and lesser known rp clans.

At first glance, {W.U.} Westeros United is nothing more than a small niche clan for game of thrones fans, however upon further inspection one will find that it is in fact a unique community of very high quality. As if a private chat game for members along with clan forums weren’t enough, some members {W.U.} take it a step further by chatting and roleplaying on the app, LINE. Under the leadership and management of Homeless and Lady Anastasia, the {W.U.} community hosts regular private and public clan games on the popular “Westeros map”. The clan also plays in their internal clan tournaments.

The clan page, similar to {101st}’s, is direct, to the point, and cuts the often excessive bullcrap of elaborate ranks and ridiculous government hierarchies. Brief, concise, and informative; it tells the reader what the clan is all about, what it can offer members, internal tournament results, and a point of contact. On the clan page there is also a link to an informative and well-made external clan website. Most members are quite casual and a few inactive, but at the end of the day {W.U.} delivers a sense of social clan community that you will rarely find in other rp clans on Warlight. As their clan page put it best, {W.U.} is “A small, friendly, and tight knit community that shares a common passion for Game of Thrones.

The reader has probably never heard of the Mongols, but for regulars that frequent the forums, the name “Genghis” will most likely ring a bell. Genghis, the clan’s leader, is a light hearted and constant presence on the Warlight forums and has taken in several “warlight refugees” from other clans into his community. The Mongols are generally a friendly rp clan with several members regularly hosting their scenarios on open games. Like {W.U.}, the Mongols also play clan games together.

The clan page informs one the type of games that the clan plays and a point of contact, rounded off with a long paragraph on rank hierarchy. Some members of the Mongols community are inactive but for the most part the clan is made up of fairly dependable players. In addition to taking in high profile “clan refugees” from the forums the clan also recruits members by putting up recruitment games where the winner gets auto advancement into the Mongols. Despite having been around for awhile the clan has never recruited members en masse like some other rp clans and instead has focussed on interacting internally. For roleplayers who want to join a clan headed by a well-known forumer Mongols is a very nice option.

I decided to review two lesser known and smaller clans this time so the community could get something new and refreshing. They are both rp clans with interesting quirks. There is more than meets the eye when it comes to {W.U.} and Mongols.

Fun Facts About {W.U.} and Mongols

-Neither clans’ primary goal is to expand their numbers

-Both clans prefer to focus on playing together as a community in internal games

-Both clans have badass taglines

-Genghis, leader of Mongols, is fond of making quality custom scenario templates and often puts up games themed around historical and fictional scenarios

-Homeless, leader of {W.U.}, boosts a 1v1 record of 1v1: 156 / 209 (75%), which is unusual for a typical leader of a rp clan

-Genghis and Homeless both have high boot rates (27.6% and 19.1% respectively)

-The random members that i interviewed from both clans had nothing but positive things to say about their community and their clan leaders

-If these two clans teamed up they would be quite intimidating if you think about it since they would be led by a Genghis Khan and a Homeless Person. Mongols+W.U.= Ultimate Thugsquad.

Have you considered giving a rating below 7/10? That's the great majority of clans on Warlight.

Interesting review. About Mongols, I only know about Genghis. WU is a clan I never see in forums, but they are very active in the games.

Make more reviews to know less known clans. :)

I know i gave you crap (pretend crap really) but thanks for being unbiased.

I enjoyed the double feature and the little fun facts section.

Honestly, it would take a person days to recount all of my contributions, greatest moments and my artistic visions.

The good thing about "Under the Microscope" is that it focuses on each clan's strength, and accepts it for what it is. Жұқтыру criticism is fair though, there's too many 7/10... the average should be a 5/10.

very informative to read about my clan from an outsiders' perspective. thanks for reviewing {W.U} and it was also interesting to learn about the "Mongols" as well. looks like we do share a bit in common, maybe Genghis wanna set up some games between our clans??

Oh and to address your fun fact about me, the story behind my 1v1 record is that when I first started playing Warlight I was mainly strategic(auto 1v1 RT) before i turned lazy and got lured into multiday diplos. Anyways thanks for your work (you really dug deep on this one), will be looking forward to any future UTM threads

Have to disagree that average rating should be 5/10. The clans aren't being compared to each other. It's not a rating to show strengths against other clans, more a rating of how good the clan might be.

Individuals obviously rate their own clan high or they would leave and who better to know how good a clan is than it's members?
Each clan meets the needs of its members so all must be over 5/10.

W.U.
Informative: 7/10
Clean/Mature Reputation: 4/10
// Right me if I'm wrong, but Tyrion used to be in your clan, and + many folk look down on those who obsess about this book. I would give it a 5/10, these marginal detriments bring it to 4, though.
Member benefits: 7/10
Clan activity: 3/10
// Clicked on 4 random players, one was last seen over 1 day ago, another 2 days ago and another was online, and the last was 2 days ago. That and I hardly see w.U. Homeless, a clan with 34 members that I should see more.
Unity/achievements: 5/10
Overall: 5.2 (decent)

Mongols
Informative: 3/10
//It's too paragraphed, a bit cluttered, and also, the message saying that things are "to be decided" should actually say "things" or "matters" are still being decided, at the beginning.
Clean/Mature Reputation: 3/10
//Too many folk hate Genghis for sometimes being smug and arrogant, and while I agree he is sometimes (see a couple comments above), he is uncommonly doing this.
Member benefits: 5/10
//None are really listed, what I assume is a few interclan diplomacies with a close, like-minded group, which is decent, but doesn't seem to be at the level of W.U.
Clan activity: 6/10
//Picked out 4 random players to see, three of them were last online less than 6 hours ago, the last was offline for more than 38 days (Pol Pot, if you want to know).
Unity/achievements: 5/10
Overall: 5.1 (decent)

Er, yes, they are. Rating:

A classification or ranking of someone or something based on a comparative assessment of their quality, standard, or performance.

so if 3/4 of people are active, that's a 3 out of 10 for activity?
um... how do you get a 10?

Was doing it by averages of how long last seen, but yeah, that's a dumb way of doing it actually. Will use median.

What's the issue with paragraphs? The way i see it, it's just as effective as any other way to tell info. It's not giving you any less or any more. Just a different format is all.

TBD is just something we aren't even sure about. Do we want rules at all? It's pretty well established that you just don't disrespect each other and it's okay.

We're very intra*-clan yes.

Our reputation is not very much tarnished I'd say. People got their panties in a rustle because i let in Colonel, but he left on his own accord recently. Also, my clan is not me. I am not always representative of my clan on the forums. If i ever am, it's definitely implied.

You are always a reputation of your clan (unless your not in one) I would say that you are the biggest symbol and/or representation of what people expect or know of your clan, I would in fact say that most if not all leaders are the biggest influence to the imagery of what there clans are depicted to be like.

By this book i assume you mean A Song of Ice and Fire (TV show is Game of Thrones), I would have to disagree with that statement maybe you look down on these particular people but most wouldn't care.

Clan activity: 3/10

I would definitely disagree with this rating although activity may not be apparent at all times this clan is fairly active on both the WarLight chat and LINE chat, perhaps you clicked on one wrong player (Pol Pot) but if out of the 4 you did click on 3 were all online less than 6 hours ago then why are they considered to be inactive? I mean 6 hours isn't much, after all they are most likely on a different time zone to you.

4 isn't the biggest sample size. I based my activity ratings on around a dozen random members and also on the random members that I interviewed for both clans.
