Not that I'd ever join A clan. I dislike the majority of the things I see come out of clans and the clans I respect are FARRRR too good for me :D

The system does seem to need a change though. if it doesn't soon then I may pitch something to Fizzer. Not sure if he has anything in the works right now but as an outsider to clans I've got a few ideas.

Mercer has already indicated that they think the Clan system is broken and will be holding off on any improvements on it because they think it "might be replaced" in the near future.

yes, there is more to clans than just the tag. each clan is a small community... the best ones are the ones with friendly players who work together and are active.

I'm pretty happy with Illuminati.

We have tournaments and clan events, practice the templates, there are several alts of very good players who are willing to help "student" players, we have active chat rooms, etc. The credit is due to FK for being an active and consistent leader/organizer.

I'm sure there are other clans that fit in the same category of not elite but competitive, active, and fun.

I think the issue with clans is that no one really knows what would change for them if they joined a specific clan or what the internal culture of the clan is like. Most forum posts about clans are just clan drama posts (like this one) and recruitment material.

Maybe we should assemble a "clancyclopedia" to help people who aren't in any clan get a better idea of what each clan is like. Something like this:

Category 0: Elite Clans

Category 1: Competitive/Strategic Clans

Almost all past Kings, (Roman) Emperors, Sultans, Caliphs, etc, were dictators...

Practically speaking, the Roman Empire was just a century-lasting dictatorship.
Just a pity the USA couldn't send drones to them back then :/

@Ayush: Alts are admitted to CORP the same way as main accounts (so if you're strategic, 1v1 me; if diplo, PM me with a game you're proud of). The only difference is that incoming alts need to declare their status/main just for administrative purposes. We have a few alts already (although we don't want to become a clan that's just alts- others have already filled that niche) but worthwhile players are generally welcome to engage with the clan using alts, especially if they provide feedback that helps make the clan better.

Not sure about the others, though.

Someone was talking about Poon Squad being a dictatorship, iirc. After reading the 11 chapter Falcon constitution, I've realized that some clans take politics very seriously.

Not really... more like a few people (not including me) take it seriously and the rest of us kinda just use general rules like not being an ass and booting inactives.

I mean... you literally describe coin minting in your constitution. And a military. And specify religions in the clan.

It's pretty much an attempt at the constitution of an actual country. So I'd say that's pretty serious, especially when virtually none of it has any implications for the (meta)game.
