I haven't searched the forums very carefully, but I have overviewed and done a google search on what this means. I've seen it used often as some sort of strategy(?) but I don't know what it means. Could someone tell me what it stands for or what it means?

Oh,okay. So, an example of this strategy is to start in Norway (assuming 0% luck) and take scandinavia turn 1? Also, does this strategy mean delaying expansion for turn 1 bonus, or does that usually never happen? Thanks in advance.

As far as the strategy goes, check M'Hunters clan page. They have a guide linked there and the Picks sections covers First Turn Bonuses. You should be able to find good examples there.

So, an example of this strategy is to start in Norway (assuming 0% luck) and take scandinavia turn 1?

Yes, that's an example. Although you'd also, say, start in Moscow or Danmark Havn alongside Norway to pull it off in most cases in the Strategic 1v1 template. Most FTBs on that template are +3 income/turn; a few are +4 but they're trickier/riskier to get in luck games as FTBs.

Also, does this strategy mean delaying expansion for turn 1 bonus, or does that usually never happen?

What do you mean by delaying expansion? I don't get what would be there to delay on Turn 1.

Sometimes, picking all the territories to secure a first turn bonus only ends up delaying your expansion because you have no where to go. Is this a rare occurrence, that an FTB would hurt you in the long run, or is it simply so risky to pick territories that you need all 3 to succeed with your strategy that it never happens?

Hope you understood that, and thanks for all your help. I will definitely check their clan page.

I thought it meant first-turn battle...
but yes, that would be unlikely,
especially in the topic referring to it most recently in the forums. :)

It's a picking strategy used to refer to picking territories, which will allow you to take a bonus within the first turn.

As far as delaying expansion for a FTB, generally that's a bad idea (I'm assuming you're talking about starting in a FTB surrounded by wastelands with no room for future expansion), especially if you clusterpick in that region. You want to always be able to expand.

lol

here are some from me:-

RoR-Rise of Rome Map/Template
EU3v3- European Union 3 vs 3 game
AxB-here A represents the number of picks that players will start with and B represents the initial armies per territory for eg.5x7 means you start with 5 territories and each territory has 7 armies
RR-round robin
tap-attacking a territory with a small number of armies(usually 1) to get work done
eg:-when teammate asks to tap a 2 neutral so it becomes 1 neutral(in 0 luck SR) so they can take it with 2 armies
BL-blacklist(ed)
PE-public enemy

Depends on where the FTB is. If the FTB is SEA/Middle east, often the expansion is slower. But if it is Scan/West Russia, then the leftovers can be used immediately on West Russia.

SEA+Middle East, scan+europe, ant+South Africa and CA+West US aren't usually worth taking, unless there's nothing better to pick or you're sure you're going to border your enemy within 2 turns
