you know where 2 of his starting spots are, yet you expand into S.africa instead of N.africa blocking off his ability to break your bonuses...
that being said, you spent 2 turns capturing S.africa, when you already owned brazil, despite them both having the same amount of territories, and S.america having a better bonus and bonus/territory ratio.

Knowing an opponent started in Scandinavia and West Russia does not mean their third pick is not in Antarctica. If you start in Africa, and do not take South Africa before an opponent in Antarctica does that's gameover 90% of the time. They typically hit it hard if they are in Antarctica to gain positional advantage over the opponent in Africa via Botswana. North Africa is not nearly as threatening, if his third pick is in Europe he has already lost the game.

Taking South America which may or not be safe rather than checking South Africato protect it from Antarctica if necessary is inane. Especially because at that point of time he could have been in Antarctica or Central America, either of which would have threatened South America (and if in Antarctica, Africa as well).

Believe it or not the goal is not solely to get as much income as fast as possible while spreading yourself too thin to actually fight.

If you understood these basics maybe you'd achieve more than abysmal 1531 rating on the 1v1 ladder.
