I think that you should only be able to comment on a thread a certain number of times until it is blocked...

^bad idea. All that will lead to is more stupid threads that overlap. Once someone hits the limit they will just make a new thread.

The issue is number of threads, not number of posts. If people want 600 pages of +1/-1 crap in a thread, who cares? I can ignore a thread if I don't care for it. But I can't ignore 20 threads on the front page that all suck (in my eyes).

True. Can't you make a sub-thread option?

maybe if people stopped promoting the same point over and over (I mean how many times does everyone have to keep jumping at lawlz being a transsexual) then the forum would work better.

maybe if people did not keep derailing useful or relatively important topics with other bs, the same points would not keep getting buried under other stuff, and would not be as much of a recurring issue?

I agree Chris, giving some means of control over content, in a good way, would help a lot, especially if a subsection of the more respected and mature players were given the ability to do such, this might need to go as far as banning (temporarily and permanently) from the forums depending on a user's behavior, though this should probably not be something decided unilaterally by a single mod. fizzer and mercer cannot cover everything on their own, especially the hydra that is the forum trolls, at least, not right now.

on a different note, I would argue that cleaning up the forums should take priority. You can argue that other things, like fixing the tournaments, etc. are more important, but where will this be discussed? where are the details worked out? it would be mostly here on the forums, and not by private messages, right? :P

if most attempts at a reasonable discussion to fix other issues are derailed by attention seeking morons, weasels, and overly sensitive divas, who are crowding out the actual discussion and making it difficult to fix the problems, then how will anything else get fixed? at least, in any due fashion?

Good point. The fact that most of the great players are rarely seen on these forums is disturbing to me. There is rarely great talk of strategy like there used to be.

I don't know if this has been sugested already, but the thing that i miss the most on the forum is the ability to "follow" threads, and to check "my thread", that is to say the thread that i posted on and the thread i want to follow. And everytime a thread gets one or more post on it, it would jump on top of the "my threads" page with a +1,+2, +5, etc sticker depending on the number of answer since the last visit. That would be awsome

Forums really need an overhaul, might not be the most important thing to do, but should be relatively high on the to-do-list :/

Agree with punching bag. Forums don't seem very important, but when there is a devoted section of the dashboard that everyone sees all the time, they become important.

Fizzer/Mercer, what do you think?

Completely agree with 125ch209. I was just thinking that myself. Another suggestion though: Also give players the ability to "ignore threads". These threads would then disappear from the user's forum list, and if they really want to see them again, they would have the option to show 'ignored threads'.

Another suggestion, maybe forum mods could have little banners (is that what they are called) underneath their names, just like Fizzer has "Warlight Creator" underneath his name. That would help with the transparacy of forum mods.

I've just had a brilliant idea! How about an "arguments forum" where all of our useless anti-Lawlz threads or fights between Falcons, Wolves and MSF, GRID and all the other trolls?

that might help, ace lol

an arguement forum will only work if people restrict their arguments to there. considering the closest thing right now would be off topic, and nobody takes their arguments there, instead leaving them out in everyone else's faces, i doubt that would be sufficient without someone to force certain individuals to cooperate

On the topic of an "Argument" forum.

It's simple. If you start posting things that should be in the "Argument" forum elsewhere then you get banned for however long. I know people can use other accounts and make other accounts but people would still rather use their mains and would avoid their mains being banned etc.

Not 100% sure on the limitations of the code but couldn't Fizzer set it up so he could ban people from the forums and not the game?

Or create a "Tribunal" system. For instance when you report someone, it'll go to a tribunal and a group of select trusted players could go through the case and vote on the outcome (Innocent, guilty etc). Similar to what League of legends have done.

Although the room for abuse is there with a tribunal system on a game like this.
