Why so many people want 3 days boot: 6/7/2023 18:17:48

If you play Warzone on any level which is not elite, chances are that you take just a couple of minutes to create orders. Sometimes you spend more time trying to locate your opponent based on history, or you use advanced tactics like timinator blockade, or attack by percentage to improve your orders. However, all in all, you are usually able to create orders below 10 minutes.

Things change when you play seriously on the highest level. Instead of making one set of orders for you, you are now making multiple sets of orders both, for you and for your opponent. Then you study how these pairs of orders behave with each other to determine whether you can improve some of these orders. Then, and only then you pick the best set of orders for you.

Some sets of orders, like picking inefficient bonuses, or abandoning an area are unintuitive and require creative thinking in order to discover. Creative thinking isn't something you can order your brain to do. Humans tend to think creatively when they are bored (for example using public transport, falling asleep, or on a walk). The best approach is to open the game, analyze the situation, and then let your brain wonder about it as a problem while you are carrying on with your day.

For this reason, any boot time below 2.5 days/ turn is incompatible with the highest level of play.

That's a valid reason, but it doesn't cover the whole picture. Elite, great, mediocre or noob, the time it takes to think of a plan doesn't really matter. I'm pretty sure nearly no-one thinks about their orders in a ladder game for over an hour. It's the timeframe you have to commit them in. You might not have those spare ten minutes when you're busy for a day or two. Same when you're traveling. The 3 day boot option gave you a more flexible window to commit in, which could be argued to improve the overall level of the ladder. I understand the change to lesser boot times: you should be in it to win it so to speak. The thing is that you're demanding players to dedicate a bigger portion of their previous 'free time' towards the ladders. Both arguments have merit, but given that the ladders are meant to test skill and are supposed to be the pinnacle of that goal, I'd say the 3d boot time was better. The new rating system got rid of most advantages of stalling anyways. You could allow players to play more simultaneous games on the ladder; TrueSkill ratings won't be affected that much

Edit: I assumed this was a topic on the ladders. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I just explained, why you might want to think about orders for one day.
Also, you are vastly underestimating the picking phase in 3v3 Biomes.

biomes 3vs3 picking phase needs 18 days. 11 days to do nothing, 3 days for me to make picks, then 2 days for my teammates to correct all my errors, 1 day for me to change and then one day security blanket.
