Assume a player (let's call them "bad") who joins the team ladder and intentionally surrenders until their ELO is low. Then they team up with a player who wants to make a ladder run. The player who is making a run has high ELO, the "bad" teammate has low ELO. Does the following hold?

Because teammate's low ELO, the player who is making a run loses significantly less ELO from lost games and gains significantly more ELO from won games compared to a situation, where he would have a teammate with similar ELO.

Yeah early returns suggest that the winning strategy is to just play 5 games as quickly as you can in the far weaker "single rider" pool. My guess is that this is a function of the ladder being brand new and players ratings not being established yet. Over time I expect 1st to go to a strong team, but I may be wrong.

single player works well on ladders, as long as you don't get teamed with someone like Bonne equipe, who's either quite confused or trolling. He surrenders pretty much every game after sabotaging his own team. He even surrendered a game where his teammates won without him afterwards.

Bonne Equipe is known for attacking his own teammates in megagames, he's definitely not confused. :)

that must be a great experience for players new to the ladders if they get such a teammate. Guidelines for ladder play are needed!

You have to give the ladder a grace period in order to adequately be able to rate players. In the new 2v2 ladder which huge nondeterminism due to randomly paired teams, the grace period had to be even longer. Obviously the ladder immediately awarding ranks and trophies produces such results.

Somehow AlexMike is 9-1 despite not playing particularly well. Though he's about to lose a second game, and hopefully lose rank 1 for good as a result.

Given Flex and Adrenaline have taken the top spot and are playing 5 games at a time, I suspect at this point anyone who gets to the top of the 2v2 ladder from here on out will very much have earned it.
