It would be nice to take notes inside a game of WZ specific to that game, because sometimes you want to think things through first and later come back and re-think it again.

It could be done in many ways.

- in 1v1 games, it could automatically make it a team game with 2 teams of 1 (at least in competitions like ladders), letting you take notes in there
- make the option to take notes on the player's profile ("player notes") more easily accessible/openable in a game and use that as a way to take notes
- allow you to private message yourself to take note of things you might want to remember
- have a separate openable text input (in a game, similar to something like the Orders tab) where you can take notes and save them for later

Specifically that last proposal would be really useful!

To attract moneyflow, make it MEMBER-only.

I think I read about a script that can do that years ago.
Don't remember if it ever got to fruition...

@waffle, If I understand correctly, do you want a (moveable) "notepad" on screen?

Why not use pen & paper?

Matter of preference. I don't like it since I can lose it, and it is less convenient to me. I'd prefer to have it neatly contained within the same game. Of course, you can always do it externally to the website (as Krulle suggested, google doc, or a Microsoft Word document), or in the "player notes" page, or on pen and paper, but I think it would be handier for the player to do it in the way I proposed. Other people have also brought it up independently from me in global chat, so I thought that there would likely be many interested.

Yeah I remember it being an idea. I actually thought it was done, and tried to find it, but couldn't.

As for the uservoice, here's an old one which already has 142 votes: https://warlight.uservoice.com/forums/77051-warzone-features/suggestions/2923461-notepad-attached-to-md-games

It's from 2012, lol. That's over 10 years ago.

▶ That would amazing! I can't remember how many times I wrote my move order on public chat with encryption and when opponent asks "what's that" I would just say "I meant to write hello but autocorrect changed it to a random Turkish word" :P

@HangFire
Why not use pen & paper?
▶ Then you'll have to find the same paper every time you opened that game again. Even if you're at school/work while that paper is at home... Your suggestion sounds incredibly inconvenient.

@Krulle
Or a small google doc....
▶ This is better than pen & paper, but still inconvenient. Technically you can just go to your opponent's profile while playing against him, go to "Private Notes" and do the same thing but it will never be as convenient as accessing game notes while you are in the game.

Hahaha, that's so funny. Imagine if someone cracked the code and figured you out by obsessively looking at your past games trying to figure out what the random word means :DD

But yes, I agree with everything you said here. Alternatives exist, but this option would be better.

Though it is funny, you're essentially admitting you lack organizational skills. If you cannot keep your area neat and tidy, then the fault lies not with the idea, but with the person rejecting it. And by the way, you should not be playing Warzone at work or school.

Anyway, it's minutiae. Each individual, will do what works for them, regardless of suggestions.

Sincerely, as always, enjoy the game and have fun.

Each person does what works better for them. Doesn't necessarily mean anything about the person in terms of organizational skills but rather their preferences in their manner of organizing. I don't see what purpose making this point even serves. If you don't appreciate or want this feature, then that is fine, you have every right to do it, but if you have nothing constructive/relevant to say, then I'd kindly suggest you say nothing.

▶ No, we lack memory skills like any other human. You can't always perfectly memorize every deploy/order/opponent tendencies etc. and its perfectly fine. Waffle is just offering a helpful solution to mitigate this problem

you should not be playing Warzone at work or school
▶ I literally came back to Warlight because I wanted a game that I can immediately hop on between works and can stop anytime a co-worker asks for help. Even if you can't, you should still be able to play at least in restroom, what kind of oppressive job do you have?

O.k., you want some positive feedback?

I like the idea. I support the idea. I voted for it on UV.

Hi, I have an idea that i think can provide for quality of play. To have notepads to make notes on Games that are Multi-day. Because is too easy to forget playing multiple multiday games what were the plans you had in your head in the beggining of the game.

I wish you had posted ^ that instead. While I do not personally need it, the idea is sound and worthy of consideration and further discussion.

+1 ^ 😊

@Hang
Are you seriously suggesting using pen & paper to write down notes on WZ games? I thought it was a troll comment but maybe you're serious?

Assuming it's serious . . . hell no; yes, I have the skills to organize that, but I don't want to do that. First, I'm trying to minimize my use of unnecessary/disposable paper (save the environment, right?). Digital is the way to go, both at home and at work. Can't control-F that paper. Also some play on both PC and mobile - not going to bring that paper with you, but having digital notes mean you don't need to, they are wherever the game is. And for many of us who have played hundreds if not 1000's of MD games, some end quickly, some take longer, some require short notes like just move order, some require detailed notes of alliances/plans/income/deployments/card piece gathering & usage/key things you've observed so far in the game/etc, so after a few hundred games, the paper would be a mess of cramped space b/c you needed more more than you thought (game went to move 100 instead of 20, etc, and new things were observed that need to be noted), could have whole pages from weeks ago with just 1 game left to play, and as I said no CTRL-F so you have to search through the pages to go back to a game you haven't played in 20 days b/c it has a high boot time or someone went on vacation, etc

More importantly, it belongs in the game; it's always more efficient to store the notes actually directly with what the notes are directly about; and since the game is digital, so can (and should) too the notes be; and since there's already chat functionality, notes is very small modification to make it possible; beats the crap out of having to put this info on paper/notepad/google doc/wherever and take on the work of creating a system to establish a link between notes and games using either game names/player names/game ID #'s, URLs/something else - so unnecessary

What VV did is ride on the auto-association of the notes to the game; don't even have to CTRL-F that, it's right there; add 1 more chat tab "Notes" and we're done, and it's probably 1 line of code, something like objChatFramework.Tabs.Add(1,"Notes",constAccessibleBySelfOnly);

Tbh it's hard to believe this game has been around this long without it; everyone having to review game history sooooooooooooooo many times to confirm what they already knew but don't remember perfectly b/c they have 30+ MD games going along with a spattering of RT games daily

@krinid, As I stated above, I like, support, and have voted on this idea.

But for me and my needs, a notebook is sufficient. I have my own "short hand". Anything worth writing down is so written. The games we're involved in are different so I/you/we require different things at different times. Personally, I don't mind clicking history on MD games.

Our ways are different thus we think in different ways and need different things.

Bottomline and my final word on the subject as previously stated, great idea, yes we need it, and I voted in the affirmative.
