Are there any plans of bringing back a system of money-betting to Warzone, which coins originally was? I remember it was stopped for legal reasons, and I would like to know if those are of a sort that can be fixed or not.

In my view, done properly and avoiding the key mistakes that were made with coins (the astronomically high tax, most prominently), this feature is something that could really make the difference in making this game big.

I assume you would need a registration process with proof of age. Bye bye anonymity.

In the past, it was handled like that: The only permitted pay-out method was PayPal, and to get a PayPal account, you need to prove your age.

I also think about it more as for tournaments. Even if the coin tax is comparatively insignificant, e. g. bet $10 and win $19.60, you pretty much need to be an elite player to play open games with that. However, betting $1 and winning $125.44 in a 128 players tournament (assuming a coin tax of 2% in place of the 10% that existed) could be a format that attracts many players. Little bet for the fun of having the chance to win a lot.

so would cash tournaments then be a thing?
or just keep it as coin tourneys and have the option to cash out your coins?

Considering that Fizzer already put many coins into the system knowing they won't be withdrawn, I am pretty sure the existing coin system can't be used for that (except if before the update, all coins vanish in some way). Having something like a Warzone wallet with a dollar amount would make more sense.

It would ruin the game. A least a subset of players would become hyper competitive, say goodbye to the friendly support and coaching that experienced players give to newer players (or each other), and increase the cheating and dubious play of some. And besides, who would it serve? There are plenty of places to gamble without spoiling this game.

Why didn't this happen last time betting money was possible, in your opinion?

Many players would become hyper competitive, and say goodbye to any form of training

Not to mention loads of cheating and pressure on WZ's database
And also ethics...

There was such a thing?

If there ever is there had better be a way of avoiding it entirely, and still sustaining a casual community(that is, players who opt out aren't affected), that's all I'm concerned. I don't really care.

Coins were such a thing originally. When they were introduced, you could withdraw coins for $0.01 a piece. The minimum withdrawal was $50, or 5.000 coins. It was never a big success though because the coin tax (=number of coins lost to the system every game) was extremely large (10%) and there was an additional withdrawal tax. At some point, withdrawals were stopped for a legal reason which I don't know exactly.

I mean, just imagine Poker tournaments had a bet tax of 10%. Noone would bother to bet, it wouldn't be possible to make profits even if you are super good.

I used Poker tournaments as an example for a strategic game which you can play to win money systematically

There would also have to be a crackdown on multiple accounts or there would be unfair advantage in multiplayer games. As right now the only reason most people are not doing this is your only playing for fun so it doesn't make sense to put in so much effort to cheat but if there was money involved...

To avoid that, the "pure skill" setting was introduced which doesn't allow to bet money on games where you can do that, for example an FFA. However, it blocked out many of the best strategic templates, so it would certainly require a rework to allow e. g. WR templates. I don't really see how an unfair advantage can be obtained im a 1v1 ME tournament or 2v2 FE tournament with multi-accounting.
