What do you think about these rules?
It's sensible to keep heated political and religious discussions off of Global Chat (GC) and most public spaces. There's plenty of online venues for discussing politics, and we've seen before what political & religious discussions can become on non-political sites where the conversation gets dominated by a few very-invested people (e.g., OT being a radicalization chamber). It's also nice that there's some leeway to still discuss politics & religion for those inclined (e.g., by having obvious and neutral thread titles).

How many people actually care about discussing "politics"- discussing policy, the political process, ethics in government, political campaigns, etc.? Nobody cares about that stuff, and people usually mock it when they see it. People aren't interested in analysis - they want to act out their hero fantasies on the stage of "public policy." "Political discussion" just means seizing a political discussion opportunistically as an intellekshual and beating your opponent, usually by embarrassing him by exposing his cognitive inferiority.
