UPDATE: Go here for in-depth analysis, the rest of the data set, FAQ and more! https://bit.ly/warzone-datadump

We found out the most common usernames on WZ and the results are shocking.

(Disclaimer: There was previously no explanation for the 1st and 2nd results in the initial table. The massive numbers on the left represent total # of accounts on WZ that had that set as their account name on 9/5/2020.)

Well, not really now that I look at most of the (original) data (at first glance). On a funny note though, there are a total of 1350 Hitlers on Warzone.

But please note that all of this information was compiled from an anonymous source. NOT ME.

Now without further ado, we will be bringing you more updates on this matter as time goes on! Crucial questions potentially being answered in the future by the stats:

1. What % of accounts are actually active on WZ?
2. Has WZ been on the decline in the past few years?
3. Do strategy players actually make up a really small proportion of WZ's main playerbase?

Stay tuned!

Yeah, fuck Bobs. Everyone's being legit and putting their real name out and Bobs are hiding behind a nickname.

Adolf Hitler really shouldn’t be allowed. Like the system shouldn’t let you make that your username. The fact that’s it’s #38 is sad.

On a funny note though, there are a total of 1350 Hitlers on Warzone.

I only see two variations of that name on the list, totaling 552 Hitlers. Are there more variations to take it up to 1350 outside of the top 50 names? And how did you handle capitalized letters? Is "Alex" considered the same as "alex"?

Edit: seems my question is already answered by the data. Entry 3 is Alex and entry 31 is alex. nvm. What would happen if you didn't take caps into consideration?

Okay, I maybe have a theory for the first name ''Profile''
Maybe some of you guys know that if you play WZ Single Player, the website or youre phone automaticly makes an account without you creating one, maybe its only on phone idk.

So that account is overwritten if you make a real acocunt, the auto-account is named standard ''profile'' and its 22k times named like this cause its in the database.

However if you search names with muli's userscript or if you wanna invite someone in a game and search for player you wont find 22k people cause the auto-accounts named profile dont have permission to play multiplayer but have to stick with Singleplayer until you make an account. Perhaps 22k players played SP without actually playing after that with making an own account.

Also when I made my alt the singleplayer levels I completed on my main were transferred to my alt. I guess this is because it still have to transfer from the automade account to youre own account.

Note that this is just a theory

^that is what I would guess too. I do wonder how they managed to find those 22k accounts.

As for the topic at hand, I would much prefer a policy like this

Usernames are public and displayed all over the site. They will be read by kids using [SITE].

In general, a username chosen with the intent of generating negative emotional reactions, is bad. This includes, but is not limited to:

Usernames with offensive/sensitive topics, e.g. race, gender, sexuality, politics

The complete absence of female names in the top 50 is... well, maybe not surprising, but seeing it written out like this still disappoints me a bit.

Also, the fact that "bob" is more used than "Bob" raises all kinds of questions.

Muli's Userscript uses the same search functionality as the Create Game window. It excludes banned accounts. Maybe that explains the 2nd most common username being some Korean characters? (I can only find one account with that name, not 800+, but I can't read Korean so maybe I typed the wrong characters. I also don't know if it's Korean, the account I found just has a Korea flag.)

Seconding Farah's question- how are there 1350 Hitlers?

Type in "Hitlers" into Muli's search function. You'll see why.

Some of those names should not be allowed lol

An explanation for the 20k+ "Profile" usernames: https://www.warzone.com/Profile?p=96129895305

If the anonymous source was getting the usernames from the page title, it seems unclaimed invites would show up as "Profile." Your username analysis seems to have discovered the approximate(?) number of unclaimed WZ invites.

Now you just need to explain the Korean name at #2. My guess is either a technical glitch where you counted 1 account 800+ times or some hacker/bot/etc. creating a bunch of accounts, almost all of which Fizzer banned.
