Everyone "focuses on the story" and eschews hollow graphics. People just mean very different things when they say the same thing.

Endgame's storytelling is very character-driven, like some of the movies you listed. It earns its big moments, unlike the DCEU, but it does indeed focus on building up to them in lieu of going for a solid plotline.

Imo a lot more movies become highly enjoyable when you start varying the lenses through which you consume media. You won't get the strong unifying plot thread/thematic elements that seem to characterize the movies you listed, though, out of Endgame, although they build some of that through the Iron Man plotline (probably not to your satisfaction).

Most of what you said isn't false (to my knowledge), but there are a number of movies that they didn't even try on. Some movies are made just to cash in on a fad or something, some sequels are made for a quick buck, and sometimes a film company is either out of ideas or lazy and just stalls with bad films. Just saying, they may often try, but they often don't.

My point is that "caring about the story" is really broad; it's like saying you "care about the taste" of food (what kind of taste?).

Ngl, I was kinda pissed that Doctor Strange basically made glowy whips and shields. Not even much use for portals D:<

Took all the way to Endgame to see some major magey stuff. D:<

I mostly care about a fluent story that makes sense, as in different parts of the story are still parts of the same story, and there's not things like crushing the whole Roman army and then losing to a dozen archers. What I call "not caring about the story" is putting more focus on things like cinematography and less focus on the actual story. If you care more about cinematography, fine with me. And what you said about Captain America, it really doesn't make sense for him to last longer then Hulk because Hulk gets stronger the more angry and never surrenders (name one time he did). Then again, it's fiction, so opinions.

MCU Hulk is way less powerful than comics Hulk, unfortunately.

Then Endgame is 100% not your movie since it's a solid hour of fan service and filler. I think they had no other choice from a storytelling perspective since the movie doesn't work without the campy time travel explanation scenes, but they definitely didn't put a ton of emphasis on the plot coherence aspect of things.

:P just say plot instead of story. Stories are a lot more than just plots. You like plot-driven movies, it seems.

When talking about media, story and plot tend to be synonymous.

So far, compared to others, I have been enjoying your posts.

Just random related thing, the ps4 Spiderman game is better in terms of story and characters both together and separately then any of the movies. Except maybe civil war in terms of character, but not story.

If you really never heard of a marvel character, just look it up on google or something.

Very very very true. Hulk, Cap, Stark and Thor all had new dynamic arcs that brought much more depth to them than in the past. I think Thanos was far more impressive and interesting in Infinity War, but that's defo cancelled out by THE BEST Avenger getting put in the limelight more than ever before. Ma man War Machine. No longer is he Iron Man's dicksucking bitchboy but the absolute unit himself Rhodey (I'd argue) ascends to true alpha status among the crew-team-gang-squad and carries the rest of the cast through at least 2 and a half hours of the film. I don't get why they're devoting resources to a Black Widow prequel. She's dead, libtards. Before Don Cheadle turns 60 I'm expecting at least a trilogy of purely War Machine based content, each longer than the last. Your move, MCU.

Thor especially gained a lot more depth.
