AOC isn't left-wing enough on various issues, and she unfortunately isn't really a Socialist. In-fact she unironically said Socialism and Capitalism can co-exist. She's an Imperialist just like the rest of the lot, though that shouldn't be much of a surprise if you know anything about American politics.

Something tells me you and Zoe aren't talking about the same thing when you say "socialism." I'm betting your notion of "European socialism" is more Jeremy Corbyn or Norway while Zoe's is presumably closer to Rosa Luxemburg or the Paris Commune. AOC/Sanders are fairly close to the former and not at all to the latter.

@ The Joey In my experience the American view it mostly the third option, while only hardcore liberals do have this oppinion on it in the EU. Here is mostly the first and second point what is considered Socialism. So aka Socialism = Social Policies - Democracy. Or Socialism =/= Social Democracy.
