Cycle 1 tournaments have been created, links on the first page.
Half of them have 15 clans joining, the other half 16.
Please join within 5 days.

Please take note of the upcoming schedule:
  • ~ end of May: draw of clans who can decide templates for cycle 2.
  • ~ June 15: deadline for submitting the templates for cycle 2.
  • ~ July 15: tournament creation (cycle 2)

  • ~end of July / September / November / ... - clan draw for template selection
  • ~mid August / October / December / ... - deadline for template submission
  • ~mid September / November / January / ... - tournament creation

The clans that will be part of the draw will be all clans that joined at least one tournament in cycle 1 and did not choose a template for cycle 1 unless they explicitly indicate they will not join for cycle 2.
{101st}, Outlaws, Statisticians, SNinja, Hawks, CORP, Avengers, [V.I.W], USSR, Blitz

For the next cycle, I will contact every clan personally after June 15 to make sure everyone is aware of the chosen templates and the deadline for submitting the lineups for the next cycle.

Cycle 1 is well on the way, with about half of the first round 1v1 match-ups in the books. As expected, 2v2 is a lot slower.
The most recent rankings can always be found at:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1m1LHE-fg8_SjmfsnUWx971-LneIpVGFhMWmFiFftmMI

Below is the template selection draw for cycle 2.
> set.seed(2)
> sample(c("{101st}","Avengers","Blitz","CORP","Hawks","Outlaws","SNinja","Statisticians","USSR","[V.I.W]"),6)
[1] "Avengers" "SNinja" "Hawks" "[V.I.W]" "Outlaws" "Statisticians"
> sample(c(rep("1v1",4),rep("2v2",2)))
[1] "1v1" "2v2" "1v1" "1v1" "1v1" "2v2"

  • 1v1 templates for cycle 2 can be chosen by:
    Avengers
    Hawks
    [V.I.W.]
    Outlaws
  • 2v2 templates for cycle 2 can be chosen by:
    SNinja
    Statisticians
  • I will send a PM to all contacts of these clans, you can propose your template (preferably through an example game) as a reply to that PM.

Templates of cycle 1 cannot be chosen. Deadline for template selection is approximately mid June.

By the way, could someone explain me how does "vacation NOT allowed with autocommit" work now?

Autocommit means that if you put in some orders, these will be automatically committed instead of getting booted at the moment you would normally be booted (e.g. 5 minutes in RT, 3 days in MD, etc).
With typical 3 day boot, that means you can input orders (without committing) in the first day and only have the turn advance at the 3 day mark. Turn advancing through autocommit does not break an ongoing vacation.

In Clan Cup, there is an additional 5 day banked boot.
This means that you would only be booted after 8 days: 3 days normally + the 5 days bank. So you could put in orders on the first day without committing and then go on vacation. These orders will be committed automatically on day 8. The turn then advances and you have another 3 days to commit the next turn, which is in total (almost) 11 days from the moment you put in the orders before going on vacation.
At that 11 day mark (3 days after the turn advanced), you need to have new orders in.
They don't actually need to be committed if you don't want to break an ongoing vacation as you can again wait for the autocommit to do this for you. But after using up all the banked time, you do need to have orders in at the 3 day mark after every turn advances.

So although vacation is not respected, you do get a one-time (per game) period of 11 days that you don't have to be online, and you can keep vacations running in other games if you put in orders without clicking commit (clicking commit in any game will break vacation!)

Use autocommit wisely, there is a forum post by Fizzer to highlights the dangers. For Clan Cup specifically: always check that orders are stored on the server by leaving a game and returning to it. If the orders are still there, it means they were stored. (Especially important if you may have spotty internet connection.)

Let me know if this is all clear or if any further explanation is needed.

Now everything is clear. It's worth adding that you have to make at least one deploy or order not to be booted.

WARNING: with the update of May 27, banked times got wiped in some ongoing games (official confirmation). All games from before May 27 may be affected, games from after that date, including future games will be fine.

For Clan Cup specifically, this may affect all first round games and the few second round games started before May 27. Please do check if you have banked time left (in the upper right corner).

Apologies for this inconvenience.

For future reference, can any template be proposed as long as the settings are considered strategic?
If so, would that allow new templates as well as well-established ones to be used?

@linberson: MW is a cheeky little *****, I bet he does try to rig this thing in his advantage.

@DanWL: yes and yes. New templates are welcome if they can be considered strategic. Hence, clan Cup may be an interesting competition to try out new templates and ideas.

@everyone: only one clan has to still submit their template (guess which one. -_-), for one other clan some clarification is needed. Templates will be posted no later than this weekend, giving everyone at least 3 weeks to submit their lineups.

As it's between halfway between the announcement and deadline, I sent a reminder to all clan contacts.

Meanwhile, cycle 1 has already advanced quite far. In the 1v1s, most tournaments are at the semi-finals, with only one quarterfinal still going on, and 3 finalists already decided. In the 2v2s, all first rounds have finished, although the majority is still playing the semi-finals.

Masters has pulled in the lead, but several other clans are following closely behind. Of note, each of the clans in the top 4 (Master, Apprentice, FCC & Statisticians) is still in the running in 4 tournaments and can still earn over 3000 points in this cycle.

Most recent rankings (whenever I update them) can always be found:
